carpandean Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Original (Translation) Sounds like he was affected by the medicine that he was on. Sad to see him go, but it was time. Props to Pepe #22 at LGS for finding the link.
inkman Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 The Marlboro Man can enjoy his smokes in peace now.
nucci Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Good luck to him. I really liked the way he played before the heart surgery.
North Buffalo Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Good luck to him. I really liked the way he played before the heart surgery. A true gentleman... he will be missed...? you think he might coach?
X. Benedict Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 If he hadn't of been buried in Phoenix all those years in his prime....this would probably be leading the headlines in the hockey world. 20 years..... and about 17 really, really good ones. Wow.
wonderbread Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Good for him. Imagine being retired at 41. Hope he enjoys it.
spndnchz Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Teppo. U da man. They should give him a send off opening night.
nobody Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 "Numminen handsome NHL career" That line says it all. A perfect translation. We will miss you!
nfreeman Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 If he hadn't of been buried in Phoenix all those years in his prime....this would probably be leading the headlines in the hockey world. 20 years..... and about 17 really, really good ones. Wow. Well said. He was a very fine player. Seems like he'd make a good coach.
Stoner Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 - 82 game season-long play began to feel heavy period last year. En olisi varmaan enää pystynyt siihen ruljanssiin, Numminen perusteli lopettamispäätöstään Suomen Kuvalehdelle . I should probably no longer able to rigmarole, Numminen has justified terminate the Finnish newspaper Fig. The whole team appeared to suffered a heavy period last year. But, I mean, if the guy can't rigmarole anymore... forgetaboutit.
darksabre Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Sad to see Teppo go, but at least he'll leave the Sabres well liked. Keep that hair long and greasy.

Two or less Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Like butta, you're on a roll... Hell of a player. Anyone remember brian campbell b4 lindy paired him up with teppo? Sad to see him go but it def was time. Wish him the best at whatever is next in his life.
SabresFan526 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Congrats on a great career. It was time, but he was a great player. He was really good for Buffalo before the heart problems. I would hope he pursues a career in coaching. He'd be a great coach and teacher for younger defenseman.
Calvin Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Teppo. U da man. They should give him a send off opening night. i'm with you on that.. thank you Teppo. it'd be great if we could keep him around to mentor/coach all the young defensive talent we've got
RR61 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Jäähyväiset Teppo. He didn't have the same physical skills late in his career, but he always had good "hockey sense". He had a knack of making the right defensive play or pass. Good luck to him.
red Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Original (Translation) Sounds like he was affected by the medicine that he was on. Sad to see him go, but it was time. Props to Pepe #22 at LGS for finding the link. ok, that translation wasn't worth a cr@p!
wjag Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 No big surprise.. Confirms what everyone had already projected.... Hate to see him go.. But it was time..
SabreFan78 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Lindy's replacement if he gets fired for missing the postseason a 3rd straight time? Or at least an addition to the staff??
Mbossy Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Jäähyväiset Teppo. He didn't have the same physical skills late in his career, but he always had good "hockey sense". He had a knack of making the right defensive play or pass. Good luck to him. All-time leader among Europeans in NHL games played. Retire-in-Peace Numi.
Mbossy Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Don Baizley confirmed reports first released on a Finnish Web site Tuesday that the 41-year-old Numminen is calling it a career after 20 seasons in the NHL to join the Finnish national team as a scout for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. http://www.buffalonews.com/494/story/754910.html Maybe he can watch some vid's for B-lo?
MattPie Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Doesn't Teppo hold the record for the most games played in the NHL for a Finn or European-born player or something like that?
blugold43 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 well, here's to a job well done... congratulations and enjoy your retirement...
bottlecap Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 so would we say that this is the Finnish of his career? (rip Clip Smith)
