X. Benedict Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 How did we get to the point where every time a player the quality of a Kessel that may be available is discussed it ends in a punchline when the possibility of that player coming to Buffalo is brought up? Some posters have the nerve to complain about the negative tone of my posts? Here is a player you can slot somewhere at the top of the talent depth chart around Vanek and Roy. It's shouldn't be that far fetched. It shouldn't be a joke. It's not like we are discussing OV, Malkin or Crosby. It is truly frustrating to think the Sabres are that far removed from being a real NHL franchise. hmmmm.......diffusing a joke with a rant?.....not an NHL franchise? I just don't think Kessel fit the team needs. Especially given the likely cost. Plenty of smallish offensive players on the team already. As for Kaberle, he would be a top 4 addition but there really is no hurry to overpay, signing Kaberle would probably lock out Myers/ and or Weber for much of the year. This year they definitely need to see what they have in Weber or move him
deluca67 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 If this is a direct attack on me then you are way off base if not...carry on. Not at all.

SabresFan526 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Well, I know the subject of this thread is regarding Kaberle. Well, it looks like Frank is available. It's not Tomas, but it's certainly a Kaberle. Perhaps this is the Kaberle the Sabres end up acquiring. That would be funny, and yet so likely. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=285999 He's got some offensive capability, but has been absolutely terrible the last two seasons. Maybe, the Sabres sign him on a one year vet minimum to QB the PP. Seems exactly like something they would do since he's been bought out.

SabresFan526 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 No thanks on Franky. I don't think my sarcasm was working well, there. Yes, I agree with you. No thanks on Frank Kaberle, but I think of the Kaberles, he's the most likely the one the Sabres would acquire. I do not want that to happen, but I could easily see this being a cheap vet minimum acquisition for a guy to play on the PP.
That Aud Smell Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Point taken. They are in cap purgatory. Way too much money tied up in mediocre players. (sound familiar) They are going to be unloading players yearly, especially when Lucic needs to get paid. get that guy out of our division ... or on our team. No thanks on Franky. calls to mind a "taro t-esque" joke some of my friends used to kick around some years after the team had drafted keith gretzky -- that is, we'd talk of the sabres' hottest prospect, frank yzerman, frank sakic, etc.
