sabresman17 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Does anyone think Enroth will be able to come up for the back up role this year. I don't know about anyone else but i don't feel good about lalime as my back up goalie?
inkman Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Even if Jonas is ready, the Lime is the fruit of the moment, especially financially. The only way I can envision Enroth getting a look, is if there is an injury.
shrader Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 What possible good could come from a 21 year old riding the pine for 65-70 games? He's got 58 AHL games under his belt. He needs to play.
wonderbread Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 One pleasant surprise if he comes up is that he would take Jaro's best interview moniker. This guy is interview gold. Just heard him on GR stumbling around with the phrase "I just try to play good"
red Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 I would have loved Buffalo to have gone after Biron, if none other than for some chutzpah. Has anyone else noticed how when Biron was here the players seemed like a tight knit unit and without him seem miserable? The players always talked about how his demeanor lightened up the room. And he was probably the last #2 goalie behind Miller who had a winning record when called upon. Anyways, I agree that money will once again be the determining factor and unfortunately Lalime will be #2 again.

Something definitely changed in the room since he left, however I think I'd rather have these guys become LESS friends than what we're seeing now. Clearly, nobody's benifiting from the all-too-chummy brat pack.
apuszczalowski Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Is Lalime going to be ready to play? Didn't he have hip surgery after the season ended? I thought thats why they made the deal with the Coyotes at the deadline for a Tellqvist. Enroth could probably use some AHL experience first, although whos to say whats better, playing regualarly with an AHL team, or facing NHL shots in the occasional game and at every practice? They could still go after Biron, if he feels he is best at just being a backup and doesn't feel he has a better shot at being a starter somewhere else.

As for Tellqvist, remember, Lalime was still perfectly healthy and got plenty of starts immediately after the deal was made. It wasn't an effort to replace him due to any health question marks.

Tellqvist played better than lalime did.
apuszczalowski Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Lalime played after the deadline? I don't remember seeing him. If thats true, then it doesn't look good on him if they went out and brought in tellqvist for the rest of the year. As for going after a backup sooner, why? Darcy doesn't make those kind of moves, plus, there really wasn't a run on good backup goalies at this time that Buffalo could have had cheap.

Lalime hit a nice little 3-4 game hot streak right as they brought in Tellqvist. They brought in Tellqvist because Miller was injured and they needed a decent 2nd option while he was out. Enroth wasn't ready.
