wonderbread Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Sportsnet.ca's Daren Millard reports Sabres sign D Steve Montador.... 2yr, $3.1 mil deal. Our savior. :worthy:
bob_sauve28 Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Sportsnet.ca's Daren Millard reports Sabres sign D Steve Montador.... 2yr, $3.1 mil deal. Should I be happy with this or not?
chileanseabass Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 good pickup. he'll be a good #5 or #6. plays a physical game that the sabres are lacking on the back end.
X. Benedict Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Sportsnet.ca's Daren Millard reports Sabres sign D Steve Montador.... 2yr, $3.1 mil deal. Wow. Didn't see that one coming. He fights.....but really shouldn't. He catches tons of punches every year. Can we waive Paetch now?
Two or less Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 Should I be happy with this or not? The guy plays with an edge. Very good in his own end. Doesn't take much crap from anyone. I like this signing. He's not a star but a hard hitter this team needs.
Two or less Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 Also, this all but ends any hope for Jay McKee to return... lol
shrader Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 It would be nice if this showed up anywhere on the internet.
Swedesessed Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Solid move....has some grit, can play offense a little..he won't hurt you.
wonderbread Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 It would be nice if this showed up anywhere on the internet. I can't find a linky stinky anywhere.
SabresFan526 Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 It would be nice if this showed up anywhere on the internet. Vogl's reporting it on the Sabresedge blog. http://buffalonews.typepad.com/ I did not see this one coming at all. He'll play on the PK and will stay at home. I would have preferred McKee, but this fills a need for the Sabres that is rather cheap. Now we need Erik Cole, one more center, and trade Tallinder and I think the offseason will be successful.
shrader Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I can't find a linky stinky anywhere. And no offense to Vanek-Man who is here all the time, but if he's also starting a thread saying the team is close to re-signing Max, I'm going to wait until someone like TSN mentions this.
awill29 Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 It just showed up on the TSN free agent blog, so I'd say it's official.
silvermike Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 No, this is real. TSN has it in their live feed: http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283416 TSN-Moderator: Sabres have agreed to terms with Steve Montador on a two-year deal at $1.55 million per season.

wonderbread Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 It just showed up on the TSN free agent blog, so I'd say it's official. Its official. Pack it up gentlemen. Thats our big signing. Let the I love Darcy parade begin.

I don't have any sources.... i look around. Max deal was from a sketchy site but still figured i'd post it for people to see and think about. But Montador deal i got from Millard.... a real good hockey journalist. I posted the source in the post. lol
darksabre Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I like this signing. Now, go do more of this.
wonderbread Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Come on Buckeye there is a montador thread already. I'm not one to raise up but get with the program here.
silvermike Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 So the top six now, in no particular order: Rivet, Montador, Tallinder, Lydman, Sekera, Butler? Hopefully, either Weber or Myers makes the group and we trade Tallinder away? Is that good enough?
X. Benedict Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Actually this is a nice signing. The term isn't going to stand in the way of development either. He protects the crease. 3rd pairing or 7th man.......60-65 games. He's a righty. so that never hurts.
