It wasn't. We had been having a perfectly good discussion. You had posted that you wanted Kaberle........I was wondering if you thought he was a leader. But I think I stopped wondering somewhere around "suck ass"
jad1 Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 I would hope an NHL GM would have a greater hocky acuumen than you or I and see through Max's inflated points to the real impact a player has. Max, even during his peak years was never for than flash and dash, not a game changer. Kotalik's deficiencies have outweighed his production since his rookie year. Soft, lazy, unimaginative, one trick pony. Whatever he brought to the PP and Shootout, was negated by every other aspect to his game. I don't know, compare Kotalik's numbers to Franzen's. Their point totals are roughly the same. Due to the intangibles you mention, though, Franzen makes $3 million more a year, and rightly so. Sure Kotalik is a one-trick pony, but it seem that's what the Sabres were paying for. In fact, if you compare him to Souray, Edmonton's one-trick pony, Regier got Kotalik at a bargain. Afinogenov looked like he was on to something in his contract year, and looked like he was backing it up in 06-07. The RAV line was a game-changing line in those two seasons, so his contract, especially when compared to Briere's arbitration award, doesn't seem unreasonable. No doubt since those contracts were signed, Max bottomed out and the teams needs no longer afforded them the luxury of a power play specialist. Both guys need to move on, but I don't think the contracts they are leaving behind are that outrageous. You and I could probably come up with 50 or more contracts that are worse, offered by NHL GMs with greater hockey acuumen than you or I.
sabresman17 Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 salute man but why do you think kaberle sucks like come on you must admit when we lost brian cambell we lost are ability to having a solid puck moving defencemen the only guy we have that has potentiol in doing that is sekera but he might not even be back alothough he probably will be
Bmwolf21 Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 yeh ok man who in that list do you consider good I'm not getting into that with you. My point was that you're new to the board and decided to start slinging insults at one of the most respected and most knowledgeable posters in this community.

Franzen got a nose down low. Big Al just never got the users manual for that big body of his.

X. Benedict Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 yah k man your right sorry about that but i was jw why no one thinks kaberle is a good puck moving defencemen and why he wouldnt be helpful to us Okay....my take.... Kaberle's good. But I think you have to look at the asking price; not only is he over 4 million against the cap but Burke wanted Phil Kessle and a top 10 draft pick coming back. Burke doesn't need to be in a hurry.....so this would probably mean the Sabres best scoring RW (Pomminstein) plus 2 years of number 1 picks going out just to begin the discussion....and on top of that Darcy would still need to clear roster space. He would definetly improve the Buffalo's scoring from the blue line, but this still wouldn't add leadership or grit on the backend.
darksabre Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Barry? is that you? me find this am funny.

Big Al just never got the users manual for that big body of his. I get that. That's why, for good reason, Franzen is paid $3 million more than Kotalik. My point is that Kotalik is a one-trick pony, but he wasn't overpaid in that role.

darksabre Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 I can think of worse guys to have on a roster taking a regular shift. You could hang ours on a dart board and hit one 50% of the time.

Try to use complete words, please. A little punctuation wouldn't hurt either.

I apologize for my rudeness. I was just wondering why some posters here don't believe that Kaberle would help this team?
