wonderbread Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Looking at where the Sabres stand sending an offer sheet to Dubinsky makes more sense then ever. Look at the Rangers team they don't even have 2 NHL lines that they can send on the ice. That includes Brasher and some AHL scrubs. They have 7 RFA's including Higgins, Dubinsky. Staal is going to RFA next year. Its time to handicap these F'rs.

They have about $13 million left to spend and could easily open up another $6 million by sending Redden to the minors.
Two or less Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Dubs isn't worth it anyways. If you're going to go around with an offer sheet, you might as well go big or go home... if Sabres want to do something crazy, next summer would be the time bringing Patrick Kane home. Not on Brandon Dubinsky, a 3rd line player. The guy i am hoping Sabres sign is Saku Koivu. He can't cost too much but is asking for 4 year deal according to the fourth period. The other two teams very much interested was the Ducks and Wild (Wild who offered a deal this morning) but no way those two could offer him close to a 4 year deal. If nobody steps up their offers, i bet he will just go to Minnesota but if Criag Rivet talks up Saku and gets him a 4 year deal, i bet we can land him.

If anything, a new Wild mgmt. would scoop him up w/Mikko. Sabres no way. Buff is way too conservative. Dominic Moore & the matador is all ye'll get. Good luck getting the shoulder ticket sales with that. <_< .....not me. Still out of the playoffs with this roster......Sorry Lindy....
Calvin Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 wow.... that's shocking to me. Figured he could get more money then that. i don't understand that deal either.. Someday you will understand that Dubinsky is more then a third liner....at least I think he is.....
Calvin Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 from The Fourth Period: A decision on where they'll sign is expected today for the following players: Fedotenko, Koivu, Kovalev, Beauchemin, Samuelsson anyone heard anything about us in the running for these guys?
Taro T Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Someday you will understand that Dubinsky is more then a third liner....at least I think he is..... Dubinsky would look VERY good in blue and gold. Would also go a long way towards keeping Jochen on the wing which is where he belongs. I doubt Jochen is going anywhere, so if he's staying, you might as well play him where he (historically) plays well.

You can line him up at pretty much at any of the forward 12 spots in a pinch or on PP or PK. I just like his game. Very strong faceoff.

Agree on Dubinsky, but as I mentioned in another thread, I am pretty close to convinced that there won't be any more FA signings unless and until we are able to unload one of our $3MM+ underperformers.

jwcolour Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 I'm sure eklund has the Sabres in the running for all of them. i definitely read him saying that buffalo was interested in Koivu and Samuelsson. So since he said it I know its not true.
wjag Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Samuelsson to Vancouver 3 years 7.5 Million. dunt, dunt, dunt, another one bites the dust, another one done, another one gone, another one bites the dust...
spndnchz Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 i definitely read him saying that buffalo was interested in Koivu and Samuelsson. So since he said it I know its not true. Read some stuff that Selanne is definitely playing his last year and is trying to get Koivu to play for the Ducks this year.
carpandean Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Per TSN ... Ryan Clowe re-signs with Sharks for 4 years, $14 million ($3.5 million per) Fedotenko re-signs with Pens for 1 year, $1.8 million Also, Hnidy to Minnesota. No terms yet.

Fedotenko would have been a nice addition. He had a decent season with pittsburgh. When he played well he played very well...etc.
carpandean Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Rick Nash extends with Columbus for 8 years, $62.4 million.
carpandean Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Interesting ... Ryan Smyth traded from Colorado to LA for Quincey, Preissing and a 5th-round pick.
Two or less Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 According to the Fourth Period, the Sabres want a mobile d-men and a scoring winger.... and are also very active in trade talks. What this means, who knows. Just thought i'd pass it along. That web site has been really good so maybe Darcy is trying to improve our squad for real.
tom webster Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Interesting ... Ryan Smyth traded from Colorado to LA for Quincey, Preissing and a 5th-round pick. To me, this is a huge indictment of Buffalo. Either no one wants to come here or they are unable to pull anything of substance off. Smyth was the perfect fit and they basically got him for Sekera, Tallinder and a 5th round pick.

If I remember correctly, Smyth had a no-trade clause, so it's possible that he didn't want to come here.
Stoner Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I think it's been well established this is hockey's version of Gitmo. I know, I know, Harry Neale and Scotty Bowman play canasta on Thursday nights in Williamsville. For a young, rich guy... he'll pass. Not to mention the organization's reputation. A quiet building. Lindy Ruff as coach for life. Should I continue?

I imagine Colorodo wants to unload 6.25 X 3 years with no trade - no movement to get the 3 centers they need.
