Peters will be gone and the guys the Sabres just drafted are at least a year away. I am totally prepared for no major changes but PLEASE tell me they are adding a couple B / C level players that can mix it up against the boards....

Who are these guys that are available in FA and who is likely to be a target of the Sabes?

I'll at least give them the benefit of the doubt until Free Agency is well under way, let alone even begun.

Someone's gonna bleed. I can at least give a 100% prognostication on that.

My hopes-

Travis Moen - left winger. Put him on the 4th line with Kaleta and Mair. Offer $1.5/per ish.

Mike Knuble - right winger. Put him on 2nd line. Offer $2.9/per ish.

Defensman - someone cheap. Not sure who would fit in.

re-sign Moore - assuming Hecht is gone, re-sign him at nice price. Offer like $1.4mil/per ish. He wins face-offs and has nice speed.

Also trade away Tallinder and Hecht. If need be, package them with something. Add Kennedy. Or Paille. Or Mac.

Vanek - Roy - Stafford

Gerbe - Connolly - Knuble

MacArthur - Moore - Pommer

Moen - Goose - Kaleta

ex. Kennedy. Paille. Mair. (trade baits)

Obviously my dream move would be for a top 6 forward, aka a center. But i don't see that happening.

Edit- due to my stupidity.

Mike Knuble, Jay McKee.

Two veteran players with leadership skills. Not afraid to play physical.

Knuble will battle in front of the net.

McKee will block shots.

McKee is just about done especially with the injuries. No thanks.

Knuble on the other hand, would be a good signing.

I am not sure if Jay is done he is only 31. If he gets his body in shape he could have many more years left. I think he would be a nice acquisition for this team. As long as his salary is appropriate if anything Knuble is 36 and getting older quickly although he would still be a nice role player on this team.

?I?m always thinking about Portland,?, said Darcy Regier, GM of the Buffalo Sabres, the NHL parent of the Portland Pirates, ?because that?s where most of our players come from. It?s a critical part of the process. We had a meeting on Portland (Thursday) and agreed to set some priorities on some players. When July 1 (the beginning of free agency) rolls around, we?re going to make some offers for some (free agent) players.? http://www.journaltribune.com/articles/200...61560138843.txt

"Free agent frenzy" for Portland?

Perhaps a move or two will be made via trade.

Linky

"Regardless of what happens in the next week or two weeks, we're going to work to see if we can improve the hockey club," Regier said. "It doesn't have to all come through unrestricted signings or free agent signings. It can come through trades. I just think there will be more work over the course of the summer this year than probably in the past."

Let's hope so, the team chemistry needs to change and I know no better catalyst then swapping in/out several players to shake it up...

Let it be said let it be written, Let'r be done.... :chris:
