Tom Golisano, go away

Did you prefer felons?

Actually, yeah. Rigas certainly didn't have the massive egomaniacal tendencies of OSP. And he never took the stems off the tomatoes before the cashier weighed them.

I do, but I don't see any of the items you listed (losing an election, moving out of NYS, getting divorced or dating a younger woman (who is 36, btw, and TG is 67)) as indicators of being a bad guy.

This just sounds like more classic WNY fear and loathing of the wealthy.

Finally, while I'm not expressing a preference for one party's group of corrupt, incompetent NYS political hacks to another, I don't see how anyone can be unhappy with a change in the NYS government.

There we go.

I didn't say he was a bad guy. Just an egomaniac. Money has nothing to do with my loathing. There are plenty of non-multibillionaires who reach that age and behave the same way. Oh yeah, Tom also lobbied against the casino in downtown Buffalo. It just seems like he takes every opportunity to inject himself into public life. It's getting old.

a) We don't know if anyone else would have stepped in

b) I do feel a debt gratitude is owed

c) I could care less about his social life but I think his political ambition is dangerous

d) His investment is now worth at least 5 times what he paid for it

e) Its time for him to give his hockey people the green light to go for it or sell the team

I'm loving d.) and e.)!

If it's true that Golisano is now looking at a new plaything (the Bills) to boost his popularity in the next governor's race* it sounds to me that the Sabres are going to be looking for a new owner soon, if they aren't already. Who in his right might would buy the Sabres at this point? What a mess of bad management, it's so deep. Three bad owners in a row and Buffalo will probably go the way of Winnipeg and Hartford and now Phoenix despite having the most loyal fans in hockey.

(*my sarcastic opinion)

From a purely business standpoint, the Sabres are in great shape and would be an attractive purchase for groups looking to buy a club. That being said, the team isn't being sold till TG finds out if he is getting any indemnity money from Hamilton.

Good point Tom. It appears to me as if Golly is going to milk the Sabres for all that they are worth. Then when they start to decline again probably as a result of a fail management team sell them. I would like to know if they intend to spend to the cap this year to better the franchise or just continue with the same "this team needs to be viable" rheotric.
