WildCard Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 Their best, IMHO ... Never heard that one. Been obsessed with this one lately though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9bP-LbR8u8 Quote
josie Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 If you like bluesy music, I highly suggest these White Stripes will always hold a special place in my heart. They're from Detroit, and I remember when I was in 7th grade going to a local Toledo divebar/stage to see some friends play. It was some amateur battle of the bands competition, and then these two kinda grungy kids were up at the end as judges or something, and played "Fell In Love With A Girl". They'd started to make it by then, having just released White Blood Cells. I decided I loved them then, bought all of their albums and was rather heartbroken when they broke up. And I'm not really a huge solo Jack White fan. Black Keys also hold love for me- they went to high school with some of my cousins/friends from college. Here's one of my original favorites: Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 3, 2014 Report Posted December 3, 2014 Never heard that one. It's from their first album (1969). IMO, their first album is their best work. Heavy Blues influence. Before they sold their souls, as they say. Quote
drnkirishone Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 It's from their first album (1969). IMO, their first album is their best work. Heavy Blues influence. Before they sold their souls, as they say. the first album is the gold standard. But I would argue that the first 4 are all greatness. here is some more live Zep Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 I tell you, I'm gonna put the whole album up here one great song at a time ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5arxGd_GPQ Quote
That Aud Smell Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 thanks to rick rubin's spartan twitter content, this: these guys are apparently a bit of a thing among musical undergrounds, and have been for a long time. i just learned of them. they are also apparently a legit political force in their homeland in northern africa, whence they've been exiled. this stuff is so exotic, yet also familiar. and check that bassist walk it out - god-like on the low-end. drnkirishone Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 NS, up to Houses of the Holy has been rereleased (remastered) by Page this year. The more expensive versions have a extra disc with unreleased/live versions of songs. Quote
Claude_Verret Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 More Royal blood. For the first time in forever, a song I first heard on the radio led to me buying an album. It hasn't been out of my player all week. Also, Foo Fighters were on Stern this week and Royal Blood will be opening for them on their upcoming tour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ere2Mstl8ww Quote
WildCard Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 This guy tells stories in his music, always has a great ending Quote
Hoss Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) If you listen to Alt Buffalo this one has probably been stuck in your head... Edited December 9, 2014 by Tank Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 I've had this one stuck in my head for 40 years now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq9uSZnby04 Yes. The whole album. Quote
bunomatic Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Fast fact. Jimmy Page listed Royal Blood and Rival Sons as the two bands out there that he is excited about. Said he went to see Royal Blood recently and they were fantastic. Its no surprise that they were both influenced by Zep. Figure it out by Royal Blood especially comes to mind for me as it borrows heavily on the Zep formula. Quote
WildCard Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 When you study all day all week, you start to listen to every song you can remember. I'm gonna fill this entire thread by the time my finals are done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q-S1U5w7fA Quote
