It’s the saddest of all happy music. Or is it the happiest of all sad music?… I never get that right. It does groove its ass off, either way. Edited Friday at 03:51 PM by SwampD 1 Quote
Doohicksie Posted Saturday at 03:59 AM Report Posted Saturday at 03:59 AM What got me into it was a YouTube video from a guy named Adam Neely who discusses music. He did one about "The Girl from Ipanema" and as these things happen, he hired a singer to sing the song in different keys, etc., and it was the girl in the video I posted above. I think she's got a perfect bosanova voice. And all that "happiest of all sad" stuff... even if you don't understand the words you can catch a case of nostalgia just from the sound of the music. It's very emotive I think. 1 Quote

When Bosa Nova and American Jazz first came together, this is the record. One of the classic recordings of its time, this was an early introduction to Brazilian music and their top artists to North America. This is my collectible first pressing on Verve Records. I was lucky to find this in such pristine condition. The sound quality is as amazing as the performance. If you have a streaming service they will probably have it in their library. Doohicksie Posted Saturday at 09:32 PM Report Posted Saturday at 09:32 PM Yes, it doesn't take much poking around in the genre to find out about that album. 1 Quote

Stan Getz was a fabulous sax player and a true pioneer in American jazz music. His ability to blend musically with the best in Bosa Nova was magical, as if he was doing it forever. An added plus. The recording engineers were also spectacular so the sound quality is excellent, it was recorded in 1963. Edited 10 hours ago by Pimlach 1 Quote
