Which Genesis? Peter Gabriel was cool. Weird, but cool. Phil Collins was a human thumb print.

You are 100% correct on everything, except one small detail ... Gilmour was originally brought into the group to play guitar while Syd tried to sing and play a bit of guitar, due to his Acid addiction (??).  Gilmour did not initially replace Syd.  There was a period of almost 2 years and one album (if I recall correctly) where both were full members of the band.  Syd more, or less, just drifted away.  I don't recall any grand announcement, or otherwise, of his departure.  The remaining members loved Syd ... the Wish You Were Here album is dedicated to and is about Syd.

Not exactly true. Yes, Syd was the acid freak and the rest of them were not into psychedelics (although they did try them a few times like most rock stars of the era). Nick Mason and Roger Waters were not big drug uses, although Waters liked hashish mixed with his massive nicotine intake. Gilmour was pretty straight in early Floyd but had a big coke habit later on. Rick Wright however was a rock star cliche with all the sex and drugs that goes along with that. 

So you're right as a whole, not "stoners" but not straight abstainers either.

I could practically define it as all prog rock EXCEPT Rush and Genesis.

I picked up ELP Trilogy at a local record store.  I spent $10 in the $2 bin, I got Trilogy, Rod Stewart: A Night on the Town, Leon Russell:  Will O' The Wisp, and some mid-century latin jazz (kind of)  Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream and Other Delights and Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66: Look Around.  All $2 each on vinyl.  The Rod Stewart was someone's favorite album; it's had the ***** played out of it.... lots of crackling.

Switching gears from prog rock... but I've got Herb Alpert on right now.  I used to think he was lame-o when I was a kid but I think Herb is the coolest now.

So for those who don't know, Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang released his first CD last month. 

OUTSTANDING! Once again proof that indeed, the Acorn does not fall far from the Oak!

The entire CD is hooky, catchy Rock. Wolf played every instrument and sang all songs on the CD. 

Here's the first single he released a few months back called "Distance". A Poignant and touching song he wrote for his Pop.

That's fantastic.  He has real talent, IMO.

Seeing all those old home movies is really touching and sad.  It shows that cigarettes are a real terrible addiction.  With all that Eddie had going for him in his personal life, which looked so great in this video his not being able to quit smoking eventually cost him his marriage, well it was part of it, and his life.  It's not shown in these movies, but Eddie was a heavy, heavy smoker.

I'm not one to talk to much, as I was a smoker and quit for 20 years when I got married, but stresses and challenges lead me to take it up again for about 10 years.  This October 5th, my 57th birthday, it will be 3 years that I've quit again.

Absolutely! His first few shows have been met with resounding success and great reviews. The kid does have "IT".
