Two or less Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Wow, somebody gave Calgary a wakeup call. They won game 5 tonight by a score of 6-1. They outshot Kalowna 50-19! Myers got a 10-minute misconduct near the end, but it doesn't say what for. Game 6 is tonight. 2-1 Kelowna late in the 2nd right now. Colin Long and Lucas Bloodoff with goals for the Rockets. Hopefully they win the series tonight and we'll all be able to see Myers on the NHL Network in the Memorial Cup!
Two or less Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 2-2 with 5 minutes to go. Come on Myers and Kelowna!
carpandean Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 2-2 with 5 minutes to go. Come on Myers and Kelowna! Kelowna wins it in OT! I'll be watching the Memorial Cup.
Two or less Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Yes! I fell asleep during the intermission. lol
Eleven Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Kelowna wins it in OT! I'll be watching the Memorial Cup. If you happen to know where to find it online (I realize the QMJHL, or LHJMQ, or whatever they do with their unwanted Scrabble letters, has not yet finished), please let us know...I'd really enjoy watching that.
X. Benedict Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 I'll report on his play next year when they are in town to play the Portland Winter Hawks. Hopefully you won't have that chance if Meyers is ready.

Not sure if it will be online, i assume it will. It will be on the NHL network though. (Not sure if you saw my post)
Two or less Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Btw, Friday Night Tyler Myers and Kelowna take on host Rimouski (Sid the kids jr team) at 7pm on the NHL network.
carpandean Posted May 11, 2009 Author Report Posted May 11, 2009 Myers was named the Playoff MVP Lookin' good!
darksabre Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Lookin' good! That stache is still fantastic.
LabattBlue Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Btw, Friday Night Tyler Myers and Kelowna take on host Rimouski (Sid the kids jr team) at 7pm on the NHL network. I was just googling "Memorial Cup" and saw that the champions of the WHL, OHL & QMJHL are joined by the team from the host city to compete for the Memorial Cup. What a-hole came up with that format where you add in the host city no matter if they are good or bad.
shrader Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 That stache is still fantastic. A few years down the line, I want to see him grow the Rollie Fingers stache. The guy will be a legend.
nfreeman Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Here's something nobody has said yet (I believe) -- at this point it looks like Darcy made an excellent choice with this kid.
rickshaw Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Here's something nobody has said yet (I believe) -- at this point it looks like Darcy made an excellent choice with this kid. Scuse me? I was thrilled with this pick and made a comment way back when when we picked him. We had all the games on local TV. I watched the game the other night and the Rockets won despite Myers' play actually. He was the goat on both Calgary goals, the 2nd was more of a fluke than a bad play though. The first one was poor recognition on his behalf with a player coming out of the box. But the kid has been a stud most other nights. He's been hitting, clearing the front of the net and getting nasty. There was a scrum and he had a guy on the ice. When he got up, he made sure to use the guys face as leverage so he could get up easier. Loved it. Go Rockets Go.
shrader Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Here's something nobody has said yet (I believe) -- at this point it looks like Darcy made an excellent choice with this kid. Last year's draft was stacked, so it should look like a good pick right now. With that said, it's way too early to say whether or not Darcy and co. made an excellent choice with Myers. The kid actually needs to play for the Sabres before we can say that.

What a-hole came up with that format where you add in the host city no matter if they are good or bad. Lots of tournaments work that way--including the biggest tournament in the world. (You don't think the US appeared in the 1994 World Cup on merit, do you?) The Olympics do it, too (Italian hockey team in 2006 comes to mind). With three leagues sending representatives, the CHL rotates the host team among the leagues and does the somewhat sensible thing (although since it's not a bracket-style tournament, I suppose they don't have to have a fourth team at all).

I was just saying "at this point..." because the kid really has lit it up so far.
shrader Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Totally agree. I was just saying "at this point..." because the kid really has lit it up so far. I know you're not saying it, but there are others around here who would read that as "hey, they can actually get some things right" comment. So I feel like responding to that line of thought by pointing out that with all they've done in the recent years, drafting really hasn't been their problem. Sure, they've got their bad misses (Kriukov), but they've drafted fairly well over recent years.

I shall reserve my judgment for the future. Until then, I like what I see. Hopefully he can become our Chara. Now all we need is a Cam Barker.
rickshaw Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Here is the broadcast schedule in Canada. Not sure if you Yanks can get this channel or not. http://www.chl.ca/broadcastsched.php

Eleven Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 We don't. But the NHL Network will air all the games. Yeah, but some of us don't get the NHL network. I'm going to find it online somewhere, though, and when I do, I'll post a link.
frisky Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Well at least they signed the kid pretty quick. First one of the off-season.
Two or less Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Well at least they signed the kid pretty quick. First one of the off-season. Brennan and Schiestel were the firsts. http://forums.sabrespace.com/index.php?showtopic=15144
