BUFFALO, NY - In what experts are calling either a moment of clarity or a dissociative break, Sabres' majority owner Tom Golisano announced today that he has approved the largest trade in NHL history (will not be official until after the Stanley Cup playoffs conclude), sending his entire Sabres roster to the Detroit Redwings for their entire roster. In a separate, yet certainly not unrelated deal, Golisano also announced that Redwings owner, Mike Ilitch, is now a minority owner of Paychex, Inc..

Rumors run rampant that Darcy Regier, confused by Johan Franzen's mix of size and skill will look to get under the Sabres' internal budget by packaging Franzen with Henrik Zetterberg in a deal to return Derek Roy and Andrew Peters to the Sabres. Experts around the league speculate that both teams will suffer first or second round exits from the playoffs next season, but that the Redwings will again compete for the cup while the Sabres watch from the golf course in 2010-11.

I wouldn't be surprised if Golly trades in the sugar packets for some big names, spends right to the cap, we win the cup and he sells.
