Eleven Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 Fleury fantastic. Satan sizzling. Another of the core Darcy stupidly let go. We could still have him, and Drury, Briere, Dumont, Grier, McKee, Campbell. Who else? EDITED: Now you're kidding, right? Didn't just about everyone want Satan out of town? Didn't he spend time in the minors this year? Did ANYONE want him after he left the Island? And I know you KNOW (1) the Sabres didn't let Grier go; (2) that none of those guys have advanced their teams past where the Sabs were (and even those great Sabs teams didn't make it to the finals); (3) that $4M for McKee and (4) $7.5M for Campbell would be completely overpaying, and ... EDITED AGAIN. PA, you were kidding, right? Please?

Stoner Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 We could still have Philippe Boucher too! And Zhitnik! Wait...
Eleven Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 We could still have Philippe Boucher too! And Zhitnik! Wait... See, that would have helped me out. I'm tempted to delete my post above, but well, it's good to have evidence of being fished in once in a while.

Stoner Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Speaking of Boucher, I don't know what it says about me that this is seared into my brain, but Art Wander once said Boucher had a great set of buns.
Corp000085 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Anyone snickering that Ruutu and Cole were injured last night? Lets see the canes overcome this and prove that they can beat pitt, or lets see the writers and fans whine about the atrocity of a few suspect injuries at the wrong time as they bow out in 6 or 7 games... I hate pittsburgh, but i'd love to see them take out some more canes players so that there can be more whining!

That's not a hockey play.
SwampD Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Actually I thought Cook leading with the knee on Cole was pretty crap. That's not a hockey play. I absolutely agree. They were both crap plays and can't believe there was no penalty on either.
wonderbread Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 I absolutely agree. They were both crap plays and can't believe there was no penalty on either. The play by Eaton was blantant. That was ugly and disrespectful. I hope the league looks at that play. That type of stuff has no place in this league. :wallbash:
Corp000085 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Actually I thought Cook leading with the knee on Cole was pretty crap. That's not a hockey play. Hey guys, i was NOT calling the injuries a result of clean plays. I just think that the canes this year in the conference finals mirrors the 05-06 sabres in their conference finals appearance. We'll finally get to see what kind of heart these guys have.

I think I know what you mean. I've no love for Carolina, but to give them their due. Eric Staal is the real deal. Ray Whitney is a crafty old SOB. And Samsonov and Jokkinen have basically gone from shite to shinola off the crap heap. They are plucky enough to stick around and Cam Ward has been making a very average defense look good enough.....also credit Paul Maurice....Carolina became very predictable with a left-wing lock over the years but they are playing a much more situation defense with some solid backchecking, short shifts, and it isn't really a trap, but quick counter-attacking breakouts from the neutral zone. I really do hate them.

Eleven Posted May 20, 2009 Author Report Posted May 20, 2009 In other news, nice assist by Campbell on the GWG in OT tonight. $7.5M.
LabattBlue Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 In other news, nice assist by Campbell on the GWG in OT tonight. $7.5M.
X. Benedict Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 In other news, nice assist by Campbell on the GWG in OT tonight. $7.5M. He coughed that up bigtime. Defense first, Brian.
wonderbread Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Come on, it's Pittsburgh. Why would the league want to hurt their golden boy's chances of losing another cup final to Detroit? No doubt as much as I would hate to see Detroit win. It would be worse to see the hated canes or the pens win. Its an all out Crosby lovefest down here! Not sure I could stand another parade.

I really do hate them. No you don't. You ENVY them. Saying that you hate another NHL franchise really means you envy them. But you can and should hate the team that you root for because they aren't the team that you envy. <_<

I was just missing the ENVY reference I still have an ECF Hurricanes tumbler glass. (the other one I broke to assault women and babies)
tulax Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 In other news, nice assist by Campbell on the GWG in OT tonight. $7.5M. ESPN dedicated a small highlights reel to playoff games that Brian Campbell has blown on each of his three teams during sportscenter. Ouch.

SwampD Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Local papers whining how the NHL is against the canes The irony of this being posted on a Sabres board is a little too much for me to handle. ;)

I just hope they lose this series cant take our chances in finals but looks like detroit is looking good to repeat.
