Stoner Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Satan with this usual up by 4 goal. You know it is over when Satan scores. This games stinks  edit: My bad, was staal with satan assist. Game still sucks tho. Knocking Satan... that dog don't bark in this series. He's been very solid. Caps doing their best impression of the Sabres. Quite uncanny.
darksabre Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Caps net has had more rubber in it tonight than a Geneseo sorority girl.

I forget the caps coach's name, but I don't like his style. I like him and his attitude, but against the pens he seemed to abandon defense for an all out offensive push even in the 1st two overtimes. It was painfully obvious it wasn't working, but he stuck to it. The caps D has been a complete cluster this series, and it really showed the pens are the better team. Way too many cap turnovers coming out of the D zone.
Eleven Posted May 14, 2009 Author Report Posted May 14, 2009 Caps net has had more rubber in it tonight than a Geneseo sorority girl. Geneseo? Seriously? Never would have guessed.
... Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 The Caps have hardly shown up for this entire series. I'm surprised it's made it to seven, and I was gunning for the Caps (any team but Crosby's). However, I have to admit I like the Pens system against the Caps - the Pens have 4 men going deep into their zone to cover D, while the Caps are more traditional. This has led to a lot of Cap traffic in the Pens' zone being shut down. It doesn't help the Caps have lost their legs, even the Great 8 seems to have been floating a bit too much this series.

This game, though, is freaking horrible, and coaching absolutely has to be part of the reason why the game is freaking horrible.
Spudz Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Caps net has had more rubber in it tonight than a Geneseo sorority girl. Hey I went to Geneseo and so did my wife, woot?
spndnchz Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 What a game 7 letdown. True dat, I dvr'd and watch the game in under 30 minutes. :wallbash:
darksabre Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Hey I went to Geneseo and so did my wife, woot? I just picked an arbitrary college that actually parties hard. I take out my jealousy in the form of slander. :bag:
Two or less Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 I just saw a guy in the crowd at the caps game wearing an old Sabres home white jersey. SDS is that youuu??? haha yeah I saw that too. I was at a bar in and once that appeared everyone was like "look! Sabres jersey!" lol
FogBat Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 I couldn't watch the Pens/Caps game, but just the general consensus on here was enough. Oh, well. At least I get to rub it into my in-laws, especially my sister-in-law's husband. He is a diehard Caps fan and turned almost everyone in her family into Caps fans (except for my wife, because I turned her into a Sabres fan B-) ). They said it was impossible but now I believe that it's true: Penguins can fly!!!
Claude_Verret Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Lets Go Bruins!!!!!! ....for tonight only though, then I root for the Pens-Wings re-match that I predicted prior to the season.
Two or less Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009  ....for tonight only though, then I root for the Pens-Wings re-match that I predicted prior to the season. I almost never root for the Detroit Red Wings, but tonight I will. I just hate no class teams like the Ducks who are just so dirty. Anyone who saw the end of the game 6 knows what I mean. Their tactic of going after Detroit's best players after the game was bad and I hope the Wings go crazy on them tonight.
LabattBlue Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Boston v. Carolina is not on TV tonight? From a WNY perspective it doesn't appear to be on Vs. or CBC(HNiC).

I guess rooting isn't the right word for it. I derive no pleasure from any other team winning the cup. I just want other teams fan bases to suffer along with us for as long as possible. Quoting my earlier post and updating it. Under the doctrine of misery loves company I don't root for teams that haven't yet won a cup. After that I go by when they last won the cup. So here is my rooting order based on that criteria with one exception. The 2006 Hurricans were the luckiest cup winners ever and I have to live among these clueless bandwagon fans. They would be #3 on my list of teams to root for, but I will not root for them under any circumstances. Instead I will group them with the teams that have never won. Detroit 2008 Anaheim 2007 Carolina 2006 New Jersey 2004 NYR 1994 Montreal 1993 Pittsburgh 1992 Calgary 1989 Philly 1975 Boston 1972 Chicago 1961 Carolina / Washington / Columbus / Vancouver / St. Louis So the winner of the Wings/ Ducks game tonight will be the team I want to see win. I might have to suspend adhering to this strict criteria in the event of a Bruins - Blackhawks final though. Although Boston won the cup more recently, it was over 30 years ago and my general disdain for all teams in mass-hole country would have to take precedence and force me to get behind the Blackhawks.

However, if you watch Versus tonight, right after the Wings/Ducks game (assuming theres no OT) they will air the rest of the Bruins/Canes game, which at that point, should be the entire 3rd period. So not a bad deal. But i'll be at the bar watching both with a few beers.

... Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Yay Detroit! I hate the Ducks, classless they are. Detroit plays an honest game and did last year in the playoffs, too. Chicago vs. Detroit ought to be a good series. I'll be rootin' for Detroit again. Let's see if Boston can take this series after climbing back into it. They're the better team to take on the Penguins, whom I hate, too. So, if the Pens are going to lose, then I must root for Boston although I don't like Chara.
Eleven Posted May 15, 2009 Author Report Posted May 15, 2009 Are the Bruins freaking losing in the third to the Canes? How dare they do this to us?! This is wrong.

I almost spit out my Jack and Coke reading this. Detroit's D hooks and holds more than New Jersey's and gets called even less. Last year they kept talking about how the Pens couldn't get to loose pucks in front of Detroit's net. When they showed the replays it looked like detroit was using pitchforks holding them back. I won't even get into the goalie interference. They're a good team, but the refs definitely tilt the ice in their favor.

I know, I'm anti-conspiracy theory, and so this response will be discounted, but: is it anything other than a case of the good team gets the good calls (in ALL sports)? Especially when you cite the series against the darling Pens?
