Closing out the year

I am looking forward to today's game. I will be in attendance with my two brothers and each of us will have our significant other. I am trying to prepare myself for how many yahoos will be boo-ing. What do you think? Will individuals be called out by certain fans?

It's not for me. As disappointed as I am in the non-playoff bid, I can't see going to the arena with the intent of being miserable. (If they can't get it going on their 5th powerplay or they are down 6-0 after 1 period, that's a different story.)

If you go to today's game, are you going to boo?

At this point, I would pay to just publicly heckle the bench. Or just wear your Sabres jersey with the paper bag look :bag:

Day before Easter, nice weather, weird starting time, meaningless game. There'll be more empty seats than usual. It'll be quiet. A few leather lungs will boo. Someone in the media will try to portray it as "the natives are restless" or "the Sabres were booed off the ice." But, honestly, there isn't that much passion among the fandom. If ownership is looking for a message, the LACK of booing, stuff thrown on the ice and people hung in effigy should be a huge one. Once the passion goes, look out. That's when you become irrelevant.

Well put, but I don't think we're quite there yet. To me, I'm disappointed, but the seasons when we reached the Conference Finals are still fresh in my mind and Sabres hockey is still an exciting concept. A two year drought is hardly reason to become apathetic. Four or five years without playoffs and all casual fans will be firmly off the wagon. That's when the team has to worry about being irrelevant. I believe a successful season next year can safely salvage the fan base.

Me? I could never just give up on the team, but I know many people that could.
