That Aud Smell Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 linkelstilsken. strikes me as not unreasonable that our mighty mite would project as one of two diminutive sabres prospects who also won the red garrett memorial: claude verret (83-84) or donald audette (89-90).
That Aud Smell Posted April 9, 2009 Author Report Posted April 9, 2009 ah, fek it - i'm getting a jump on our off-season and bumping this so as to ask for some thoughts on how gerbe projects relative to the other ahl rookie of the year winners from the sabres' past (verret? audette?). also, fwiw, seems to me that goalies are more likely to take top rookie honors in the ahl than they are in the nhl.
LabattBlue Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 This kind of surprised me. I know Kennedy has played more games, but he leads all rookies in scoring and I thought he would get the nod over Gerbe.
carpandean Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 This kind of surprised me. I know Kennedy has played more games, but he leads all rookies in scoring and I thought he would get the nod over Gerbe. I'm sure it was a close call, but Gerbe has the highest PPG among rookies and, while I haven't checked, I would guess that he has far-and-away the highest GPG (goals-per-game) among rookies. Goal scorers often get the nod.
