The Sabres need a guy like this in their lineup.

Once again, Rick Rypien does his thing.

Not only can he throw with both hands equally, he's a terrific skater, and has some hands. The only downside, he has Tim Connollyitis and is often injured.

Anyway, this is from last night.

Zack Stortini 6'3" 228 lbs

Rick Rypien 5' 11" 170 lbs

gimme a break. if you think that's what is keeping us out of the playoffs, then you know even less about hockey than i do.

you can have your hockeyfight tough guys. just give me 3 or 4 defensemen who know how to clear the puck and keep the area in front of the net vacant. and maybe even a few forwards who don't get pushed off the puck all the time...

Regardless of what is needed. This dude has some stones, that first shot he gave him was a beauty. I'd love to have some new blood on the team maybe infuse some life.

life, yes. but fighting does not win you games.

Guys willing to get in and battle is contagious. Not the fighting, but the will, the desire, the effort. Rypien going against guys 40 lbs plus or more than he is shows desire, toughness and his teammates know it. They know he'll do what is necessary to help them win.

He fought against Anaheim on Thursday night when his team was down 2 goals. He won the fight. The Canucks then scored 4 straight, only to lose in the SO after some shoddy goaltending by Luongo.

The fight part is whatever. The willingness to do whatever is needed is more important. The Canucks have that these days. The Sabres have not had that on way too many nights. Read my initial post. Rypien is tough for his size. He can skate, has hands and will stand up for his team. What part of that don't you like Blugold?

i think his point is that fighting doesnt win games. Some nights it might spark a team, but this taem really needs scoring depth. Take a look at the teams ahead of us and compare their rosters' offensive production to ours. We dont have the horses in the stable to run with the big boys.
