Team Strike Force Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 More good news. Thrashers take two goal lead. Will win in regulation
SabresFan526 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 My reaction on the turnover.... "ooohhh" (Pommers gets passed the puck) "Nooooo! He's gonna miss!" (Scores) "He didn't miss! He didn't miss! He didn't Miss!!!!!!!!" Followed by jumping around like a 10 year old boy hopped up on Mountain Dew. I did that both after Max's goal as well as after Pommer's goal. No need to feel bad.
Two or less Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 If that happens to be Afinogenov's last goal as a Sabre, it was a hell of a time to score it. If he doesn't score a goal there, which really came out of nowhere, I think Sabres season ends. I'm so glad i bought tickets to tomorrow nights game. Sabres have played real well as of late. I expect them to come out HUUUUUUUUGE tomorrow.
Cereal Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 LET'S GO BUFF-A-LO!!!!! Edit: They are playing with an amount of desperation. Win tomorrow and if the Rangers lose against NJ (1pm game) and things will look interesting. additionally, I;ve promised to go to the DET@BUF game if that happens. Let's keep it goin boys! 9 out of last 10 pts a'int bad right?
CallawaySabres Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Never lost the faith nope never. Beat New Jersey tomorrow and I'll be at the rink by noon on Monday. I might just have to get a ticket tomorrow as well!!!!!!!

Just to put things in perspective, if NYR lose tomorrow in regulation, and Sabres WIN both tomorrow and Monday night games, Sabres will be in 8th place come Monday night. Incredible.
ThePebble19 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Did anyone else notice this? At the end of the third, while Washington was holding the puck in their own zone to get to the OT period, Pat Kaleta came over and tried to steal the puck and put a nice little hit on the Washington player as time expired. Right after that he went skating over to the bench, and you could visually see him getting his teammates pumped up for the OT period. As far as I am concerned, there is no reason he should not have a letter on his chest next year. Maybe he has "Rudy" syndrome, but if some of our skill players had 1/10th of his heart, passion and effort, we would be unstoppable.
SwampD Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 That was damn fun. We didn't help ourselves, but boy, those refs sure didn't try to give us the benefit of the doubt. I'm really glad they overcame the officiating(oh, and their lazy play) Connelly's play to win it was top notch.
matter2003 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Pommer the bomber gives us another day to live. If Boston beats NYR tomorrow, i may get a bit more excited. NYR have a hell of a schedule though.... like we have an easier one? We play Washington, New Jersey, Detroit and Boston in the last 6 games---4 of the 5 best teams in the NHL points-wise... I think I'd rather have the Rangers schedule of Boston, Montreal, Philly, Philly instead(although that would be 2 guaranteed losses to Philly) EDIT: Oh yeah, don't forget to throw Carolina in there for the Sabres too---one of the hottest teams in the NHL---if the Sabres make it in they REALLY deserve it with that murderers row of teams left on their schedule...

It's easier for us, because if we had to play Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles and Ottawa, i'd say we were as good as dead. This team for some reason plays up to it's opponents. And NYR vs. NJD and Philly are always wars. NYR could only get 2 out of 6 of those points, on top of playing at Boston tomorrow....

In other words, if the Rangers lose in regulation tomorrow, Buffalo controls their own destiny again. Exciting.
JujuFish Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Also, Connolly now has 42 points in 40 games now.
Two or less Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 In other words, if the Rangers lose in regulation tomorrow, Buffalo controls their own destiny again. Exciting. Well, Florida would, but they only play once before the Sabres play the Wings, and we'd be tied in points, thus hold the tie breaker, but they would have a game on us. So technically they'd be in 8th... but you get my point. lol
Two or less Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Also, Connolly now has 42 points in 40 games now. And people say he's not a point per game player... HA!

Winning that game in hand has them tied in points, but Buffalo has the tie breaker with more wins. So, what I said was true.

Kristian Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 last weekend! I know, but the red guy won't listen!!
carpandean Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 And people say he's not a point per game player... HA! Actually, most people just said that he hadn't proven to be a PPG player over any extended period of time (as of the trade deadline.) At the time, he had 26 points in 29 games this year (0.897 PPG) and in his previous two seasons with any significant number of games (i.e., not the 2 games in 2006-07), he had 55 points in 63 games for 0.873 PPG (2005-06) and 40 points in 48 games for 0.833 PPG (2007-08.) Certainly, he's closer to showing that now, but half a season is still a short stretch over which to draw any real conclusions. Consider that Roy had over a PPG last year and has nearly a PPG in total over the last two seasons (149 points in 154 games for 0.968 PPG.) However, down the stretch last year, he had 51 points in 38 games for 1.38 PPG. I would say that Roy has shown that he is roughly a PPG player, but would anyone say that he is a 1.38 PPG player based on half a season? I think that Timmy probably will be a PPG player if he stays healthy, but nobody can say that he has really proven that yet, which many seemed to do around the trade deadline.
Stoner Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 For those who think the Sabres never get an officiating break, it sure looked like Pominville was offside on that goal.
tom webster Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 For those who think the Sabres never get an officiating break, it sure looked like Pominville was offside on that goal. As I have said before, you have such a need to show your superiority by being objective that you end up being biased in the opposite way. Connolly knocks the puck into the zone before Pominville vacates it, BUT he clears the zone before Connolly enters. Since Connolly doesn't have possession of the puck, the play is not offsides. By the way, kudos to Pominville for hustling the way he did.

Stoner Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Right on Tom. The proof...... Great shot! Proves nothing. Back it up and you'll see that the instant the puck had cleared the Washington zone edge of the blue line, Pominville had yet to tag up (skate position, not stick). Tom, your description of what you think offside is confuses me. Not trying to prove my superiority, just trying to point out that the officiating breaks go both ways.
Stoner Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 OK, here's what Tom was trying to point out I think: 83.2 Deflections / Rebounds ? If a puck clearly rebounds off a defending player in the neutral zone back into the defending zone, all attacking players are eligible to play the puck.
