LabattBlue Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 In order to make the playoffs, Montreal would have to go 5-6 and the Sabres 8-3. The Sabres had one run in January where they were 8-3(with Miller healthy) and the 6-0-2 start. Other than that it has been a sub-par season. Knowing that Lalime has come back to earth and is now showing why he is a backup, does anyone still believe the Sabres are going to make the playoffs? Before you answer, keep in mind the Sabres are 1-4-1 in their last 6 games when the playoff spots were easily within their grasp.
Stoner Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Here's the other side of that fatalistic view. The Sabres are the hockey equivalent of that guy who went over the Horseshoe Falls and lived. They've lost game after game but they're alive. They haven't lost much ground. I wonder what happens when you want to die, go over the Falls and find yourself bobbing around in the water, not six feet under. Do you have a change of heart? I wonder if the Sabres might have awakened this morning in New York and said... HEY! Nah.
cdexchange Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Guys, there is still plenty of hockey left. Plenty of really bad, soft, uninspired, frustrating hockey.

carpandean Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 The weird thing about this year is that the East teams spread far more in the first 2/3 of the season than last year, but are now converging back to about the same levels that they were at for most of last season. The bottoms teams were much lower this year and now are playing much better hockey, while the top teams were much higher and now are playing worse hockey. The Sabres have stayed right in the middle both years.
rickshaw Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 What bothers me is that Ruff says it's his job to get the guys going. You know what? I played sports for many years, still do, and not once did I need a coach to get me motivated to play. If these guys aren't motivated about missing the playoffs again, then there is clearly something wrong with them.

If these guys aren't motivated about missing the playoffs again, then there is clearly something wrong with them. which means that we don't need these guys. we need a bunch of overachievers. No more Timmy or Max. No more Paielle or Pomer. We need real players who don't need to be motivated. We need players who know what needs to be done and what they have to do to do it. Which means we need to fire Darcy and find a GM who knows how to find real hockey players and not soft, stupid and lazy players. Unfortunately, soft, stupid and lazy is apparently what Darcy likes in a player.
kingcongkorab Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 I just heard the fat lady singing :(

I don't think they have had a change of heart, I think they aremore like a child who keeps doing it until something bad happens
