G.M. Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Just another of G.M.'s incoherent posts with no point really except trade the whole team. You think I would have learned to not bother reading them after the last couple. Then please stop reading them. I try to dumb these down for people like you but I see in your case it has done no good.

scottnc Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Then please stop reading them. I try to dumb these down for people like you but I see in your case it has done no good. Well, you got one word about your post right.
G.M. Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Good post, GM. It does a raise a very important question. LQ keeps saying the goal of the franchise is to win a Cup. How exactly do they plan on doing it? Just hoping to get lucky one of these years? In Bucky's Sunday column where LQ says Lindy and Darcy are staying put, he is quoted as saying, "We have to get to the next level. We have to find a way to do it. That?s what the goal is. It?s not to be pretty good. This town deserves a winner. They have supported us unbelievably, and these are really tough times. One way or another, we have to get them a winner.? One way or another... I realize the challenge under the current economic situation, but the Sabres have done this before. Namely Muckler built a very good defensive team around Hasek and was able to get to the finals. If the Sabres had Hull instead of Dallas it may have been enough. Here is a question, are the Sabres morally obligated to attempt to win a cup? So far they have said they will build a competative team, not a Cup winner. Untill they change their philosophy then we will be in for .500 hockey... Drafting in the top ten does not give you a lock to win the cup but its a good start. It is almost comical when you look at how the canadians traded for players and picks to create their core group. Unfortunately GM's are smarter now and first overall talent is harder to come by. Changing the rules to make a lottery to pick the first overall pick also makes it more difficult. It is really any wonder that are two most talented players are Top 5 picks? Vanek and Connolly
G.M. Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 WOW...People rip me to shreds...that's a post from hell...More pessimistic than me... <_< It is only pessimistic if you believe it to be false. All that I did was look at how all the Cup Champions built there teams from 1970 onward. If that is pessimisic its not the post or the person behind the post. If you critically look at the data it is all there in black and white.
shrader Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Dammit. Teppo is a UFA and so is Funk. :wallbash: Assuming he gets a qualifying offer, Funk will be a RFA. As for the others, you're forgeting everyone's favorite fake trade proposal, the sign and deal.
G.M. Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 I wonder if he's as good at predicting future stars, as he is at telling us who was a star. That's a real talent he has there. How much thought was required to grab players like Malkin, Lemeuix and Jagr and Crosby Pittsburgh is doing the same thing they did before! They are just too dumb not to try crosby straight up for Dion P. of Calgary.
X. Benedict Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 How much thought was required to grab players like Malkin, Lemeuix and Jagr and Crosby Pittsburgh is doing the same thing they did before! They are just too dumb not to try crosby straight up for Dion P. of Calgary. Too dumb, eh?
Bmwolf21 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Another dum dum :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: Mr. G.M., what you've just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this message board is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
G.M. Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 Did he mention Max in there anywhere. I didn't bother reading it, I just assumed he used him to fill some vital role. BTW Did I mention that Max has been our best player since returning? You must really hate me by now :worthy: Go! :worthy: G.M. :worthy: Go!
G.M. Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 Too dumb, eh? Yes, right, they are lacking a game controlling D. Why not trade for the best defenseman in the game> Because he started out living with Lemeuix. It would be a trade that makes the best sense for both teams. Pitts would get a D man that would have more longevity then Crosby and Calgary would get a Number 1 center. Like chess their position beggs for the move to be played!

I think I'll just wait five years, when you come back and tell all of us who turned out to be good in those years.

wonderbread Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 G.M. I love you man. You had me at 18 page report. Are you really Darcy? Seriously man you have some extra time. Not that I didn;t follow your premise but seriously you need to start getting paid for your visions. One question... Is Golly the governer in 5 years!!!

At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this message board is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. I used bulleted formatting with Microsoft word, the formatting is a bit botched however it is completely coherent. If you can?t follow that then you are simply dumb. I would imagine that you are old and doddering, maybe a former journalist or retired teacher. Next thing you know you?ll want me to come over and program your VCR. Listen, if formatting and short phrases are too much for your little brain, buy yourself a DVD player and sit back and look stupid. Otherwise if you actually need a point spoon fed for you, I will be more than happy to defend any point in simple terms you would understand, otherwise get lost. Your comments have nothing to do with the content of the post or discussion and are the pedantic knit picking drivelings of a doddering old fool. One way or another... He actually said that? Well, I would say we now know where the players learned that talk is everything, and backing it up with actions isn't necessary.
G.M. Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 Neither of which has won anything yet. I think you missed my point though. I think I'll just wait five years, when you come back and tell all of us who turned out to be good in those years. Ah to your first point. To your second point, Pittsburgh is lacking grit, ?role?, players like Ryan Malone. Secondly if you look at the data every single team has had a game controlling defenseman with the exception of Carolina. Trading Crosby for Dion Phaneuf makes a lot of sense for both teams and is precisely what their situation calls for. They already have Stall and Malkin for a good number one and number two center. The reason they will not trade Crosby is that he is close to the owner. It does not make sense to trade Malkin because he is better then Crosby and Stall for Phaneuf is lopsided for Pittsburgh. Do you actually have a constructive counterpoint about the post or is it just that you do not like to face facts. There are actually two different things going on in the original post. My points and the data. All you have to do is go on NHL.com look at the previous Cup Champions, and look at how each team acquired their players. That?s all. Moreover the Sabres are not following any of the 4 basic strategies. I can understand if you disagree with me but if you consider the data you would have to agree the Sabres have no clue as to how to proceed. There are definite patterns in how those teams went about it. It is crystal clear.

Nice try but a bit glib for my tastes. :worthy: :worthy: Go! :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: G.M. :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: Go! :worthy:

You're such a frigging moron you didn't realize that quote was pulled from a movie and reformatted for the intelligence impaired (cough GM cough). Let's not even get into the fact that you are calling other people dumb while the vast majority of your posts are riddled with inaccuracies, straw men, misspellings and poor grammar, among others. You lambasted me with a plagiarized quote from a 1995 movie whose success was tantamount to that of the greatest ballerina in all Biloxi! Boy, I must be a moron not to have seen that one. Your use of ?straw man? is also misguided. If you?re going to accuse me of something, then at least get your pseudo-reasoning terms correct. Again you attempt to attack my posts by vague ramblings and childish name-calling but you have yet to present any quote, counter argument, or parry for anything that I wrote. So for your first lesson, dummy: you are using a form of pseudo-reasoning called a ?Red Herring?, where you try to deflect any attention away from the argument by offering up vague arguments or arguments that have nothing to do with the post. Using generalities without any quotes or counterarguments is a sign of a very small mind indeed. Another illogical thing you just did in your attack is called ?appeal to popularity? where you try to establish that?since everyone feels the same way about me?it makes my arguments invalid (which is ludicrous). It seems you know how to correct spelling and are a wiz at grammar; however, I did not start this?you did. I feel we should be talking about the Sabres and the pitiful situation they are in instead of this pissing contest. As you can see I can urinate with the best of them. I would wholeheartedly welcome any thoughts or ideas about my posts. I write them off the cuff and I am sure they are mostly replete with all types of errors. But let us stick to errors regarding the subject material from now on. Again, Sabre discussion here? If you actually believe that my posts make no sense, then cite some examples. Decipher what is jest and what is biting commentary! Thanks to all of those who dig past periods and commas.

For a being a flaming troll you're not very good at it. You might want to roll back the tape, though - you tossed the first attack -- at everyone on the board -- in the title of your thread. Need your memory jogged? The Sabres "unwashed" as in unwashed masses, a condescending, derogatory term that implies the rest of us are too dumb to keep up with your faulty premises and circular logic. I will concede the use of straw man in reference to the OP was erroneous - it should have been applied to some of your other posts in the thread, but not the OP. What can we take from the original post, then? Outside of a lot of words, some bad grammar and a lot of run-on sentences....not much. You pretty much proved that despite what you posted, there is no absolute, fool-proof formula to building a Cup winner. Teams win the Cup with great offensive centers and wingers...except when they don't (NJ). Teams win by drafting high...except when they don't (Detroit). You also go on to suggest that the Sabres tank this season and the next, fire everyone and anyone associated with the front office, coaching staff, trade, release or give away 99% of our on-ice personnel, and rape the farm teams and minor-league prospects. Brilliant. I'm not sure but I think you might have even suggested bringing back the Earl of Bud just to fire him again. I got kind of turned around halfway through your War & Peace-length essay, so I might have missed something. So I, on behalf of most of the posters here (I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds or speaking out of turn) I accept your offer to "check back in five years." You can spend the next five years working on your "study" of the Cup-winning formula. Adios.

Proof points - for someone fancies himself as a GM and has the master plan so brilliantly figured out: "minutia" (sic) = Minutiae "personal" (sic) = personnel "roll" (sic) (players) = role "Lafluer" (sic) = Lafleur "Stall" (sic) = Staal "Gerby" (sic) - Gerbe.....pretty sad when it's a Sabre whose name you are misspelling Call me crazy, but combine these 2nd grade spelling gaffes with numerous punctuation & grammatical errors, and it's kind of tough to take seriously the musings of a self-proclaimed arrogant "GM" who pats himself on the back after delivering a long-winded theory.

You can spend the next five years working on your "study" of the Cup-winning formula. Adios. I implied nothing; the post was intended for people like you, morons, who continue to believe that there is something magical about how this is done. Wow! I guess I?m really getting to you. Are you really a retired teacher? You know what they say, ?if you can?t do, teach? "Teams win the Cup with great offensive centers and wingers...except when they don't (NJ). "Teams win by drafting high...except when they don't (Detroit)." Daaaauah dhah ?Da people win the lottery except when they don?t? Wow you are dumb! Your pseudo-reasoning exposed again! Really? That?s what you got? I said best plan moron! Best plan, not least likely!!!!. So out of the 38 past championships there were four anomalies (4/38 that?s not too good!!). What a bonehead you are you! You should get a job at WGR and spout off with Dope and the Bullfrog. The idea is that there are moron-less people who have built championships and they actually had plans! The Sabres should pick the most successful plan! Wow that was hard. Was that hard for you to understand? Let me get you some milk and cookies. Would you like me to write you a bedtime narrative about how the Sabres win the cup this year! LOL ?Now go get your shine box!? Loser! The Sabres situation is quite clear. Firstly, if they were trying to build a team why sign Connolly for two when all the rest are around five? Not to mention that a lot of their signings were moronic. You?re not related to Darcy are you? They have nobody on defense that is even close to a clutch caliber player and they are bound to lose Spacek in the offseason. So where is the next Kevin Stevens, (Lets cite a N.J. player since you mentioned them). The Sabres have one high profile player, Vanek. That is it. They have to hope and pray that in one season Connolly turns into Messier or Holik (the next season it is back to losing him for nothing before the trade deadline and we go through that again). If Connolly says bye then where are they getting a replacement? Not to mention that he is simply too soft *and why am I even bothering to explain this to you!* They have to hope: Roy turns into a two-way centre; add a top five defenseman; and add a bunch of battle seasoned role players; and that Miller stops crying and plays like Patrick Roy. All of this in a very short window of time. There is no money for the pieces of the puzzle the Sabres need. Even you should see that. Estimates are that they will be around the cap even if they get rid of their UFA. The Sabres dubiously gave contracts to four players that are turning out to be complete busts for the money. There is no way of unloading them in the near future. No follow this ?circular reasoning? butt monk? Given that they don?t have the money. Given that the personnel needed for a cup run are absolutely not coming from within the organization, or within the foreseeable future. Furthermore it would take at least three or four years until they mature beyond their playing ability? They may even have the talent but not the maturity. They won?t get here in time. Not to mention that we have to find these players first within the organization!. We certainly won't trade for the players we would need. We have nothing of any value to offer another club. By then we will need another Tomas Vanek and another goalie. By the time they were able to surround Vanek with the rest of the players needed Vanek will be an UFA. This is a .500 hockey team dummy! We don?t have those types of players that you see on Detroit and they can only be attained through the draft. So is it circular reasoning?? I guess I?ll take the 34/38 odds and you can have the 4/38 odds. You must be gullible enough to believe that they actually have a chance by, doing what they?re doing. You are so incredibly dumb, closed minded, and egocentric I wretch at the thought! Your catch phrases, quotes and insights are out and out pathetic and lame, the musings of a prototypical nearsighted old man that dreams of past glory. At least you?re done with the B movie quotes. Your lack of mental fortitude approaches intellectual butt-cake however, you do have a future as a professional spell checker! Get lost you unwashed dweeb! I?m done with your moronic insights. Cya
