bottlecap Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 The man has no energy and his presence is a drain on his linemates and on the team...They all know what he is, a defensive specialist who's a -12. Fourteen years in the league and this year the game has passed him by. It's not his fault that he conned Regier into thinking that his past performances are indicative of future returns. This one is on Regier. Nine goals and twelve assists with a -12 through 56 games. Hecht is being paid $3.8 million a year with a 3.525 cap hit. I am sick and tired of his only move, trying to pinpoint the puck through a tiny hole at an extreme angle or from behind the net. And he's signed through '11-12. Chokin' Jochen is completely useless and should be benched!! I can't stand the sight of him. How about another garbage goal to pad the :censored: stats Jochen?

bottlecap Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Well excuuuse me! He was drafted fourteen years ago but played with the Germans until starting w St. Louis in '98. http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=646
Bmwolf21 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 14 years for Hecht? My, how time flies. It's disappointing, isn't it? Nothing takes the shine off a good rant like inaccuracies or overexaggerations.
Knightrider Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Doesn't it seem more likely that he and Pominville are simply playing through injuries?
bottlecap Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 It's disappointing, isn't it? Nothing takes the shine off a good rant like inaccuracies or overexaggerations. mere technicalities. the bottom line is there's no excuses.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 mere technicalities. the bottom line is there's no excuses. Just bustin' balls, bottlecap. I agree that Hecht has been a major disappointment.
SabresFan526 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Hecht has been awful this season, but I like what I have seen from him in the last 4-5 games. I think he even played well against Ottawa even though the third period they collapsed. I also thought he played well against Philly as well. He's creating scoring chances and was a big reason Spacek scored the goal against Florida with his screen in front of the net. He has been creating chances offensively and played pretty well defensively. If he can keep up that style of play down the stretch and gets us in the playoffs, I can forgive his putrid season up till the last 4-5 games.
bflobarry Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Every game, I expect Lindy to finally "get it", and put Jochen on the bench where he obviously belongs. Why is he on the ice? Argh!!.....
Stoner Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Every game, I expect Lindy to finally "get it", and put Jochen on the bench where he obviously belongs. Why is he on the ice? Argh!!..... You want him sitting on the bench, taking up a roster spot?! :) Yep, it's Ball Bustin Saturday! Look at Hecht's career stats. He's been a very good, very consistent, plus player. Something is awry. But in recent games he's been firing the puck on net from everywhere, and those goofy shots are the ones that tend to go in for him. See Game 7 against the gritty Hurricanes.
Corp000085 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Doesn't it seem more likely that he and Pominville are simply playing through injuries? We won't know till the day after the last game played this season, but this is a likely possibility.
LabattBlue Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I would love to see Hecht moved in the offseason, but I don't know what you can get for a soon to be 32 year old LW, under contract for 3 more years with a cap hit of 3.5 mil & coming off the worst season of his NHL career. Over the last couple of years, I have said that DR/LQ/OSP better be careful when they hand out multi-year contracts. When they swing and miss, which is what they appear to have done with Hecht, it will really hamper this franchise and their self-imposed cap number.
sabreskings3623 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I'd like to see us trade him in the off-season as well. He's been downright terrible this year. We'd be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th rounder for him though.

nobody Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I do blame much of Pominville's poor play due to being on Hecht's line.

Hate to put the hate on Jochen, but this has been coming for a long time. If (whoever is the GM this summer) can't trade him, they should eat the rest of Jochen's salary the way Jones ate T.O.'s salary and give him his outright release... then...Adler Mannheim, here we come! Just the cost of doing business I guess.
