Forget Ruff and Regier....its all on QUINN

Ruff coaches what he has, Regier secures what he is allowed. How is this team different from last years team? Minor changes at best. Lalime, Ellis, Rivet, Numminen, Butler. Backup goalie, journeyman, Solid D, 41 yr old D, rookie.

Nothing has changed. Swap Campbell for RIvet, different players and games, but both decent. No upgrades on this team, how can we expect a better team? Lalime has been ok, but Miller plays majority of games. We are avg team, on our best, we get in 8th spot for playoffs.

Regier only does what he is allowed. The ultra pompous Quinn has blundered his way to give us this team. Gambled and lost on Brierre/Drury/Campbell. Gets off somewhat based on how all three are now playing and we could never afford to pay any of them what they make. The mistake was not securing them long term much earlier. Way overpaid and committed to Hecht. Pominville. Roy looks like bargain now. He totally dropped ball and panicked on Vanek. Instead of getting all pissed at Kevin Lowe, you should look in the mirror Quinn. You should have locked him up much earlier for a fraction of what you dished out to match Edmontons offer. That salary is severly limiting what we can do now. Miller had to be done and is going rate.

Quinn.......YOU ARE TO BLAME, hope you sleep well. Funny how we never see you on tv now, only when things are going good.

Blame Quinn all you want, but theres no proof he controls anything. If he was that bad keeping the team back and not allowing Regier to make moves, why would Darcy stay here and not move on to somewhere where he can be free to build a team without being held back?

Quinn holds the purse strings. Do you not think that any GM must consult with the owner about monetary decisions that affect the team? Golisano has appointed Quinn to this position in his place as he is not hockey savy. Any GM has limitations, ours are caused by Quinns mistakes on who he signed and didn't.

The more this team loses, the dumber some of our fans get.

Fo sho' !!

I'm all for playing the blame game, and this is a natural course for a struggling team. I'd like to take a different approach, though; perhaps we should blame the under-achievers that wear the sweaters. Hecht, Tallinder, Lydman (moreso when he's paired with Tallinder), Pommers, and the list goes on and on. These guys weren't just added this year, but rather helped us win a President's trophy and nearly got us to the finals. I know we lost the "you know who's", but please don't try and convince me that they were the only reasons for our success back then. These guys should be playing better, period.

What's been driving me nuts is why these guys are continually allowed to take the ice. Why not play Paetsch over Tallinder?? Why not let Paille take Hecht's spot for a few games?? Seems to me the "doghouse" is partial to certain players, and that doesn't sit right with me. These guys need consequences, bottom line.

Lindy was always very choosy about who goes in the doghouse.

Some players seem to reside there permanently, while others can do no wrong.

Good current examples are Paille for the doghouse, and Hecht as the no-good stiff on the ice who always gets minutes no matter how friggin' lousy he plays.

Yes, you do.

It's interesting that so many fans are so invested in the status quo. I have no idea why this is, except, again, Lindy is one of those Buffalo guys.

If this team doesn't make the playoffs, it's time for a clean sweep.

Quinn is the hatchet man and this summer I think you'll see a repeat of the Muckler/Nolan purging. Time for 3/4 of the team to go too.

Tom Y. Golisano and Quinn are the big problems. They prevent any progress from being made. Bring in Basille--if he can be made to commit to Buffalo. At least he's an owner who knows what he's doing and would jet anywhere to play pick-up hockey.

Where do you get that from? He knows what he's doing because of all of his previous experience being an owner and working with the NHL??????

Basillie is just a billionaire with too much money desperatly wanting a new toy to bring to his home. He will not buy a team just because he wants to own a team and get into the NHL. He wants a team to eventually be moved to Kitchener/Waterloo, where RIM is based. If I had his money and the ability to do it, I'd also jet anywhere for a game of pick-up hockey, I also comehere to post about the Sabres and watch them on TV or at HSBC when ican, Would that make me a great owner too?

I'm sure Darcy does have to consult with the owner or someone to make moves just like any other GM in the league. The difference is that others seem to have the ability to convince their owners that the move they want to make is whats right for the team. As for Quinn, is there anyproof that he is really holding the purse string, or has ever held Darcy back from making a movehe wanted to make? Does anyone have any proof of what Quinn actually does with the team???

Everyone assumes because they don't like him that he is the problem and he is the problem, assuming that they know exactly what he does

IMHO, Quinn makes the kool aid just sweet enough that we drink it. He's worried about filling seats and having a team at the lowest possible cost to him, that fills those seats. That's why you've got a GM. Someone who can say to the paycheck signer "hey, I need more money for this guy or that guy". I imagine Darcy gets tired of asking for more money and still gets "Nope" a lot.

Speculation, thats all that is. For all we know, Quinn is only a middle man between the GM and TG, or maybe he is just a public figure for the team and has no say in the personel side of the team. We have the same amount of proof that either is true

OMG did you see rivet last night with 13 second left in the first?!?!?! just letting the guy from philly go right to the net and score what is patty to do with that!!! I dont think he sucks i just think that it is time for these guys to look in the mirror and win a big game when the big game comes!!! they work hard to get within a point of going to 5th and lost to the sens and then they have a good start in philly until 13 sec left in the first. it is something that always happens with this team.

Color me uninformed but this post made me really think. Everyone really has an opinion of Quinn and really point the finger at him more often than not. Can someone give me a link to where it gives a breakdown of who is in charge of what? All I know is Quinn is a minority owner that talks to both TG and Darcy. It's hard to blame one person for all the troubles of the team if so much "info" is heresy.

According to the team's media guide, Quinn oversees the direction of the franchise and is responsible for day to day operations.

We will see how dumb they really are when season ticket sales for next yr are announced...

Besides the fact, that here in Boston; there is already chatter of fans not spending the expendable income on Bruins playoff tickets let alone season tickets for Sox/Patriots season tickets.

I cant imagine the fact(financial) of the matter of Sabres making the playoffs or not, meaning (is the playoffs worth the expense?). Signing Moore/Tellqvist is just enough to buy the fans the piece of mind that they are trying. <_<

Season tickets next year are just dangling of the carrot IMO for the Sabres Mgnt. I'll give the Bills the benefit of the doubt for signing TO at the moment.

Ok then. Now I know he was involved with the Drury fiasco, but what other disasters has Quinn been unequivocally involved in? Sometimes I think the line of thinking goes like this:

Lindy is a good coach.. He's witty, sometimes mean but fair and has won a Jack Adams award. - So it can't be him.

Darcy has gotten the better of most of his deals in the past, and is conservative by nature. He thinks through moves logically, but sometimes to a fault. - It's not really his fault.

I'm really not sure what Quinn does and comes off as arrogant. - Of course he's the problem!

I'm sure that 90% (or even higher) of the posters on this board do not have any sort of inside info on the team. So really, other than a couple of spots this guy does on WGR every now and then how often is a Sabres fan exposed to him, and is it enough to blame him for ALL the problems this team has?

I worked for him while at the Sabres a few years ago, his first stop. I know all about him and his ego. So how much do you know about him??????

I am sure next to nothing, any board poster is exposed to Lindy. Why bother? It's the low point of all right now......to say the worst.

That explains the animosity....

I got mad at a former boss when I was 18 for him firing me, too. It was his fault I called a customer fat.... <_<

can you elaborate as to what exposure you had to Quinn?? Did you work side by side? Were you prevy to meetings and discussions between him, TG, and DR? Exactly how well do you know what it is he does? Just curious.....
