I was at an AHL game in Philly tonight ( I wanted to see the phantoms at the spectrum one last time) and I see this guy in a suit and I was like hey that is Don Luce. I said excuse me sir are you Mr. Don Luce and he said yes. I said to him I am a Sabres fan and we talked for a few. He was very nice and supprised a young kid like me knew who he was. Apprently he is the the director of player personal for the flyers.

I met him back in the 70's at a sports night event, then ran into him again while shopping for a Sabres jacket at JC Penney. Both times he was very polite and humble. One of the classiest guys ever to wear a Sabres uniform.

Luuuuuuuuuuce! #20 with those puffs of hair sticking out his earholes!

That was then, this is now. Don Luce doesn't have nearly the amount of hair he had back in the day.

Met him in '76, in a McDonalds. He signed my napkin.

Nearly 30 years later, I ran into him at a fundraiser at Soho (who the hell puts fundraisers at Soho, I know...). I told him how he made a five-year-old really happy back in '76, and he was glad to hear the story. I did not ask him to sign another napkin.

This guy is class all the way.

Some things just open up old wounds...

Who needs Don Luce, Terry Martin and Larry Carriere when you have video scouting? OSP didn't have to resort to sugar packet stealing for months after this salary dump. <_<

I met Larry Carriere when I was a kid. He rented my aunt's house while she was away on sabbatical. Great guy. Gave tickets to me and my dad for a Sabres/Leafs game -- 13 to 3, Buffalo!

30-some years later and I still remember. Don't let anyone ever tell you that athletes aren't role models.
