spndnchz Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Sportsnet.ca is reporting that Ales Kotalik has been sent to Edmonton as part of a four-way deal that brings a second-round pick to Buffalo. Kotalik, who has 13 goals and 39 assists in 56 games, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. ---John Vogl
gg1 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Well, let's hope Sabres win all their games in regulation or OT. So basically, it's a Moore for Kotalik trade
spndnchz Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 So we kinda get "Moore" for Kotalik. Total deal 2nd to Toronto for Moore from Carolina Cole to Canes Edmonton get's O'Sullivan, Kotes Williams to Kings with 2nd round pick I think?
scottnc Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Well, let's hope Sabres win all their games in regulation or OT. So basically, it's a Moore for Kotalik trade I think that's a good deal. I'll miss Al's shot, but it appears Moore, at least from what I hear, has much more to his game.

darksabre Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 now THIS is a trade I can get on board with!
SabresFan526 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 FWIW, TSN is only reporting a 3 way trade between Edmonton, Carolina, and L.A. L.A. sends O'Sullivan to Edmonton, Cole goes from Edmonton to Carolina, and Justin Williams goes from Carolina to L.A. I don't see Kotalik as part of this trade per TSN. http://www.tsn.ca/tradecentre/feature/?id=11776

Sabres traded carolina's 2nd round pick for moore... a pick they don't have and a pick that edmonton got for Erik Cole...
bflobarry Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Thank. GOD! The giveaway king moves on. Whew.......
Bmwolf21 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Thank. GOD! The giveaway king moves on. Whew....... We traded Max? Awesome!
spndnchz Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 We traded Max? Awesome! He must feel like the last girl picked in gym class right now.
rickshaw Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Hope we don't go to too many shootouts the rest of the way, as Kotalik was our unquestionable #1 scorer. I believe he was useful until the end of the season, simply for the SO. ON a side note. I wonder if this deal gets made between Edmonton and Buffalo, if Lowe were still the GM????????
darksabre Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Well our goal for the rest of the season is to never have to make it to the shoot out. So we shouldn't need him.
wonderbread Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 He must feel like the last girl picked in gym class right now. Or the fat kid with the thick glasses and the high water pants.

Well....that's the risk...but I think Moore is much better suited than Al to help you keep a lead during regulation.
inkman Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I believe he was useful until the end of the season, simply for the SO. How many scoring opportunities did Kotalik create with his horrible decision making and questionable desire?
wonderbread Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 How many scoring opportunities did Kotalik create with his horrible decision making and questionable desire? For what team? the Sabres or who they were playing?

X. Benedict Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 How many scoring opportunities did Kotalik create with his horrible decision making and questionable desire? I never questioned Al's heart...only his head...he just never had a great mind for the game. Imagine if the guy had a knack for getting open (he doesn't)...or could read rebounds near the net (he can't)... I wish him well.
inkman Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 For what team? the Sabres or who they were playing? Exactly.

Big body like that not banging when he could. No thanks.
Swedesessed Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 "Great" move to exchange 2nd rounders, get marginally better at best to try to make the playoffs. Way to go Darcy

Way to go Darcy    What exactly is the problem with this move? They moved an underachieving forward - who is quickly turning into a one-trick pony - in a position of depth (winger) to get the second round pick that they used to fill a position of need (center depth). What's not to like?
