you're against this then.

2 yrs, 8 mil on the table.

It's actually more like $8.5 or $9 million, since they said two years at "better than $4 million per season."

I just heard a report that Connolly went back to the Arena to get something he forgot, tried his key, and found they changed the locks. uh oh.

we could do this all day.

I'd say right in line and a bit less than he's worth completely health.

Take a look at recently signed contracts like McDonald of St Louis, signed for 4.7 million per. About the same numbers, a bit older (2 years) has had his share of injuries too.

I'd say it's a fair price. Now let's see if he's gone by 3pm.

When Timmy's placed on IR tonight for carpet burns to the left and right knee, are you locals gonna pillage and burn the place down?? Because we all know this deal was contigent on head rounds for the ENTIRE front office. It's the only way this deal makes sense... :censored:

good signing by Buffalo. Connolly gets the money he deserves while Buffalo gets the luxury of only having to deal with him for 2 years should something go wrong without hurting the cap TOO much.

I was thinking sign-and-trade too...I'd like to see Gaborik...

Harry Neal on The Fan 590 in other news , says Ryan Miller up and walking around looking good, should be back in week to two weeks at most..... injury healing quicker than thought initially. If so some room for optimism .

Not if they don't start winning in the interim!

Personally the only way I'm happy with this signing is if he's traded today or the stars align & he stays healthy which is a huge question mark with an awful track record. If it were just the concussions I'd be nervous enough but he has a laundry list of obscure & common injuries - kind of like a chain smoker but a chain injury victim instead - one after another.

people people, if hes hurt he DOESNT count against the cap!!!!!!!!!!!

why doesnt anyone know this? see danny briere........

We do know this. It's only true if he is on LTIR. He has not been on LTIR this season, but missed almost half a season worth of games. Plus, unless you get the contract insured (hard/expensive with history), you still have to pay the money, which is far more important to the Sabres than the cap (at least next year.) Finally, it prevents you from bringing someone else in this summer. If he gets injured, then we are stuck with Hecht as the #2 center, since they will not go out and get a replacement.

But if he's hurt he doesn't help us win. The sabres aren't exactly the model of offensive depth that they used to be, and it's not going to change soon. Banking on a guy who hasn't played a full season combined in three years is way too risky, especially if you give the guy a million dollar pay raise. Lets just call this what it is: Reiger overvaluing his own assets.

Signed per TSN @ 2 years, $9 million.

not what i was hoping to hear. i hold out hope for a sign and trade, which seems unlikely.

I'd say ... a bit less than he's worth completely health.

i'd say that's about right, but damn it, the discount should have been commensurate with how injury-prone he is.

*sigh*

well, there's real cash to consider, there's the performance problem of relying on a guy who won't be there for big stretches of time, and there's the likelihood that he won't actually go on IR and give us any cap relief (which, btw, this team does not need because they're well under it).

While I'd be surprised if it turns into a sign-and-trade, it's certainly possible. This probably makes him more valuable to a potential acquiror.

Since we are short on centers and scoring already, though, I have to think we're keeping him. The whole "Darcy is an idiot because TC is always injured/if TC is healthy it's a good value" debate has been done to death, so all I'll say is that Sabres fans are long past due for some good fortune, so maybe he will stay healthy.

Back to the real world: this team still needs a top-9 forward, another defenseman, preferably with some toughness (and now that Wisniewski has come up I'm quite interested), and maybe a backup goalie. Darcy needs to keep the pedal down.

Go Sabres.
