Two or less Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Lookin good so far tonight....woulda looked even better wearin the blue and gold. Thanks Darcy for overlooking that one! Who's our Ryan Whitney? Gotta trade something to get something.
SabreFan78 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 woulda gave em stafford, max, and a few sticks
Two or less Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 woulda gave em stafford, max, and a few sticks They wanted a defensman. And you think they want Max? And i wouldn't trade Stafford straight up for Kunitz. You got to be CRAZY to do that.
rickshaw Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 If Drew Stafford gets moved for little or no return, mark my words, MARK MY WORDS, you will rue the day he left. The guy is going to be a special player. He's in his 3rd year. He's got major skills and is a natural scorer. He will only get better. Stafford is a keeper.

I agree, and I think management knows this as well. He'll be even more important to this team as our conference inevitably grows bigger in size, and the game shifts even further towards strength and grit(see Burke in Toronto). In fact, Stafford is exactly the type of player that this team is looking for. I've always thought of Stafford as sort of a Vanek-lite. His game overall isn't as sharp as Vanek's, but Stafford's role on the team is different. He is a potential top power forward in the league and capable of consistent 60pt seasons. And lets not forget, he's only 23; his potential has yet to be fully realized.
SabreFan78 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 ok, i've seen the light....good points about staff ya think there will be ANY moves tmrw? the big rumor I see is Marty Biron comin back here
wonderbread Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Whitney at 5 million a year is comparable to either spacho or loods. Remember he is coming off 8 months of rehab and has been a minus player since coming back. Also did you see the beast that the ducks gave up? Tangradi he's like 6" 220, plus he has 88 (38/50) points in 54 games this year with the Belleville Bulls of the OHL.

darksabre Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I personally think it will be a active day for the Sabres. I think so too. Last year I didn't see anything happening, but I think Darcy might be feeling some pressure. I'm hoping for at least a few moves. If we're lucky Darcy pulls one of those blockbuster trades that no one sees coming.

I don't know that we have the pieces for a blockbuster move, but I DO think we'll see some guys shipped out come 3pm. Darcy won't stand still, and although a lot of people here seem to think we should move to rebuild, getting rid of dead weight come 3pm would, in a sense, be doing both.

Addition by subtraction is a big part of this trade deadline situation.
billsrcursed Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Agreed. Addition by subtraction is a big part of this trade deadline situation. I couldn't agree more with you. I think Darcy knows that getting rid of as much dead weight as possible by tomorrow is healthiest for this team. If we can get a Steak sub for Max, then pass the onions...
