gregkash Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Placed on Waivers today. He is a free agent at the end of the season, so we wouldn't be making a long term commitment to him. He makes 3.5 mil this season so we'd only be on the hook for what little is left of that. We need secondary scoring. Or #%^$#!, primary scoring. Any scoring really. I don't know. I don't like Miro. The guys don't like Miro. No one likes Miro. But he's there.
nfreeman Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 What is the point of "throwing it out there?" He is exactly what this team doesn't need -- another overpaid floater.
spndnchz Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 I read somewhere the Devils are picking him up.
wjag Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 I read somewhere the Devils are picking him up. Well played.
johnyvegas Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 The only upside (i use that term very loosely here) would be the return of Ingrid Smolenska to the Anthem singing roster.
wonderbread Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Well played. I'm stymied I read this 3 times and missed it everytime.

BamBam Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Honeslty.....Do you think fans on other boards go through the same thing that we Buffalo fans go through? Anytime someone on another team is cut, be it football or hockey, within 5 minutes you'll see a post that starts with: Brendan Morrison Cut....Sabres should sign him....or Saints waive Vilma...Bills need to act quick. Of course, all of this is followed by the post that leads off with.... "Miro Satan Waived....Now I'm not saying the Sabres should go after him...but what do you think?" I call that...The pre-emptive apology post cause you know at least 10 people will respond by saying "NO....Are you crazy" It happens all :D :D the time!

Classic. That little sucker is creepy.
deluca67 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I always laugh at all the hatred towards Satan. All the guy did was score a ton of goals when this team had zero offensive ability to help him. He killed penalties and score plenty of imaginary empty net goals. Which is funny in it's self considering Ruff wouldn't put a defensive liability out on the ice in the final minute with a one goal lead. And he did it while being grossly underpaid. Why not pick him up? Let's face , the Sabres aren't going to make a huge splash. They're not going to cure the lack of toughness in the next 17 hours. The team needs offensive and Satan can score goals and play on the PK.

gregkash Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 TSNs main page said he was waived. Maybe he cleared.

I'm convinced, now more than ever, that you just say what you know is the exact opposite of what everyone else thinks, even if you don't actually believe it. Satan is the exact kind of player that you have been complaining about on the Sabres, ad nauseam, for months. And now you want him...c'mon. I ain't buyin it.

I've been pro-Satan for a long time. He's a player who did a lot for the franchise while he was here. He's cheap and he can score. Does he cure the Sabres physical woes? No. As I said earlier, that's not something that will not be cured before the deadline.

Sometimes he goes 20 games without getting a goal, but he suddenly gets hot and scores the 6th and 7th goals in a 7 - 1 win. Or he scores 3 goals in the team's 8-3 loss. Let's not forget those empty net goals he gets, after someone else has already scored an empty net goal moments earlier.

I can't comment about the game situation of most of his goals, but I did look through the NHL.com stats for Miro's time in Buffalo, and I can tell you that Miro had 13 empty-net goals in 7 full seasons with the Sabres. The most he had was 3 in one year (2001-02).

Satan carried this franchise as the only offensive threat for years. Most his offense was created on his own considering he had nothing even remotely resembling a play making center. He scored 5 on 5, on the PP and on the PK. And don't forget he played during the Hasek years. There just weren't many 8-3 loses or 7-1 wins during that time. Most often the score was 2-1 or 3-2 with Satan carrying the day offensively.

Anyways...the fact that you like Satan just points out to me that this myth you've been perpetuating about the team's lack of heart and physicality is just that, a myth. You and others are focusing on that because you are frustrated about losing. This team hits just as much as any other team and I believe they are skating hard to trying to win games, but they're losing because they're just not that good. I watch other games where the goalies get run into all the time, they don't automatically start big five on five scrums, beating people up in their defense. Our team does just as much of that useless facewashing in front of our goalie as any other team. And yes it's useless and a waste of my time. Just drop the puck and play hockey. And getting mad over not "making someone pay" is the mating call of the loser. The Red Wings have 10 Fighting majors, the next closest team has more than double that and the league average is about 40. Retribution on the ice has nothing to do with winning and losing, scoring does and right now we aren't. Oh, and I too wouldn't mind if we got Satan.

And may I bring up what happened to Stafford in Chicago?
