Yeah, losing tonight would just be sad. I won't ever count the Sabres out until they are numerically eliminated, but a loss here would be beyond a bad sign.

We're done. They've dropped too many points against shitttttty teams. You can't lose to the NYI and get away with it. There will be tonnes of 3 point games coming up too and we won't be the one in those games. We're either 2 pointer or 0 pointer games for the most part. I hate to say it but we're done.

If I'm wrong you can say I told you so and I'll be fine with that.

Agreed, and now all but the most delusionally optimistic fans realize this. Regier needs to wake the #%^$#! up and start selling players with no likely future on the team.

I'm not "delusionally optimistic", but I wouldn't say that we're done. We are now in 8th by the narrowest of margins. Getting Vanek back will help with some of the offensive woes, but we do need to make some moves in the next couple of days. I would be both a seller and a buyer, but wouldn't be renting. We have some issues, no doubt, and likely won't be able to fix them now, but we should be able to shore it up just enough to get in. I definitely would not guarantee a playoff birth, but I wouldn't say that we're done ... yet.

Well Spacek just confirmed it in his WGR interview: "we thought this would be an easy game tonight" and "there are no more easy games." Honestly, how long have fans been hearing there are no more easy games after losses the past few weeks? It's like listening to a crack addict talk about how this is the day he will kick the habit. Maybe it works for a few days, but they fall right back into the same routine. After a while, the talk just gets really annoying when the play doesn't follow.

Typical Sabres quote, and very much in-character with the rest of the team.

Illustrates everything that's wrong here - Mindset. It isn't there, and until half the roster is replaced, it never will be.

This had "Sabres Don't Show Up" written all over it, and guess who didn't show up.........

"We thought this would be an easy game".

That quote should be cut of tomorrows paper, get framed, and hung in the locker room permanently.

Even when all the current passengers are long gone, this quote should stay.

Agreed. Here's another quote for you:

"It (Islanders) was a young team that was ready to work," said Lalime. "It seemed like they were maybe a little more hungry than we were."

To get outhungered by a team that's just playing spoiler? Hopefully it was just a one-game blip but I suspect not.

If this were a one-game blip, we wouldn't be in the position we're in.

It's the exact opposite in fact - It's very consistent with what The Sabres have become.

A very average team, with a questionable work ethic, which is capable of playing up to opponents levels regularly.

That last part is what keeps teasing us all into believing they may become something more.

Can't say I'm disappointed, cause I honestly expected them to drop a stinker tonight. Getting shut out stings though.

Here is what Eck is saying about Guerin....

He took the skate, was healthy, but is a no show for the warm up and game against Buffalo....

Updated...Guerin has texted Andy Strickland to tell him that we will all know what is going on with him in the morning...he has left the building. Andy has learned that it is NOT NJ or Boston. I found out that it is NOT Philly...

I am hearing that Washington, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh are all possible.

hmmmmm

I've figured it out. The deal was to trade Guerin to the Sabres, but first they must lose to the Isles. That would make the trade feel better in NY. It makes so much sense now!!!!

Crap, I woke up this morning from a really bad dream. The Sabres actually LOST to the Islanders. Not just lost, but got shut out, while 2 of their better players weren't even on the ice, and their Goalie was some dude I'd never heard of before.

Thanks for reminding me it wasn't a dream everyone :censored:

Considering how long Vanek was out would you anticipate an immediate impact? I would think he would have some conditioning issues.

Don't look now but they are not that far behind the Sabres. Unless some drastic changes are made I expect the Leafs to catch the Sabres in the standings.

Geez I hope that this doesn't happen....But the way that this team has played especially losing and getting shutout like they did last night to the lowly Isles..well frankly that's embarrassing enough within itself...but if something doesn't change then that's probably what will happen...and it will all be because the Sabres did it to themselves.

If that isn't enough reason for a team shakeup then it's time for a FO shakeup.

I agree with your bolded points but will even add, if we do make it, let's not kid ourselves this team is a one and done at best (one round that is). Any moves as others have said need to be for the future. Maybe bring some kids up from the farm for some playoff experience.

Yep thats' pretty much it in a nut shell, I was beating this drum much earlier in the season but the RoChaha Brat pack , sausage holding party frat needs to be broken up. <_<

Letting somebody else hold your package shows way to much comfort level on this team to suit my taste, some of these boys need a kick in the package not a friendly tug.

I forget who said it in an earlier thread, but I am paraphrasing something that was so apropos: All the teams know how soft the Sabres can be and they take full advantage of it with nothing to worry about (I think it was in reference to Miller getting knocked out by Scott Gomez).

I am also reminded of something a friend from Dallas told me at the beginning of the season: the Sabres are tough as toilet paper. I hate the fact that he's been proven right. :wallbash: :chris:
