deluca67 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 In 2008 RVP played in 242 games with 225 points for .9297 points per game. In 2009 they have played 178 games with 165 points for .9269 points per game. Goals? .3925 per game in 2008 and .3764 here in 2009. It's funny how numbers work out. In 2008 Vanek was perceived as having a down year and Roy - Pominville had good years. This season Vanek is having a good year and Roy-Pominville are perceived as having down years.

I am just hoping at the end of the year they say Pommer was playing with a broken leg all year, to at least give me a sense of security that he doesn't suck. Because this year, he has been brutal.
carpandean Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I don't know if I would say that Roy is having a down year, especially if you think he had a good year last year. Consider his stats through 62 GP: 2007-08: 25G, 33A, 58P 2008-09: 22G, 35A, 57P Here's Vanek's points through 54 GP: 2007-08: 16G, 18A, 34P (note: he had 10 goals in games 55-61 and was at 26G, 22A, 48P through 62 games) 2008-09: 32G, 20A, 52P Finally, here's Pommer's through 62 GP: 2007-08: 17G, 38A, 55P 2008-09: 13G, 33A, 46P Pommer is the one who is most off of his pace from last year (actually, through 48 games, he had the same number of points as last year, but then didn't have as good of a February this year.) Roy has had a small shift from goals to assists, but is dead on for points. We'll see if he finishes as strongly as he did last year. Vanek is far ahead goal-wise, but right on in assists. Obviously, Vanek missing 8 games has taken away from his contribution to the team through 62 team games played (though, still ahead of last year), but for his own actual games played, he's way ahead.
sjb012 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Stats are only half of the battle though as we know. Vanek and Roy have "competed" most of the year. Pommer has looked COMPLETELY lost.
