I voted that he stays with us for the season then goes elsewhere w/no compensation....I just don't think the Sabres should sell anything right now. I'd rather they not start dealing everything away when they're in contention for a playoff spot.

For those who don't think that they'll get a playoff spot with the current roster (including Vanek & Miller), then tell me who you think they'll get in return for the guys they do have????

Your looking at a return of mostly picks and mid level prospects. Which is fine. The Sabres don't have a player that will get a similar return that Campbell brought. The Sabres need to turn the volatile assets they have now into solid assets they can possibly use in future deals or drafts.

I think my vote is more positive/wishful thinking as I don't think the will re-sign him for a price that's right. I would hope that they could get something good back for him even if it's something that will pay a little down the road like a young player.

Do I presume you're talking about Connolly, Tallinder, Kotalik, & Max (among others)? That's fine with me, also....but as much as they should probably look to deal Tim, I just don't think they will right now.

I answered a different question -- "what SHOULD" instead of "what will" -- because I don't know how anyone could have an idea as to what's going to happen.

I don't mind if Timmy stays and walks at the end of the year, or if he stays and signs for a reasonable amount at the end of the year, or if he goes before the deadline for good compensation. I certainly don't mind if Regier pulls off another miracle trade. But I would not be happy if he were shipped out without fair consideration in return. Right now, he's an integral part of the playoff push.

He is easily the most talented player on this team (w/ a nod to Miller and Vanek; both out for a while). Why is everyone so anxious to run him off? We've got stiffs like Hecht and Kotalik making $3 mil +, but Connolly gets the pipe b/c he was injured? I hope we keep him...

Fixed. He was far from our best player the first half of this season, much of last season or all of the season before that.

Yea, that was then, this is now. NOW, he IS our best player. And, right now, Kotalik and Hecht are still stiffs making $3mil + per. Who is your #1 center w/out him? Injuries happen to all players (I.E. Miller and Vanek). Connolly is a legit #1 center, a point a game guy who makes this team better. I say "Grit your teeth and pay the man".

It's been a whole 21 games. A lot by Timmy's standard, perhaps, but I'm still not totally convinced. Healthy now does not mean that he won't be injured again and with his history, you certainly have to worry more about that than with a historically healthy player.

By the way, Kotalik makes $2.5 million and is most likely gone at the end of this year. You should, however, add Max to the list at $3.5 million.

Clearly, if we don't re-sign Timmy, then one of our two scoring-line centers is not on the roster right now. He will have to be someone from the outside.

A note at the bottom of the Oleantimes article mentioned ".... According to a report on ESPN.com, the Sabres made center Tim Connolly, a free agent following the season, a contract offer last week. ... "

sign and sell him?

If he doesn't sign before the deadline then they should move him. If the price for players like Geurin and Thachuk command high picks and future consideration TC should generate some return.

After listening to Darcy's interview today on sabres.com, I'll be amazed if they trade TC (or, for that matter, Spacek or Tallinder). They want to make the playoffs this year.
