Underdog Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Do we trade for a goalie? Who's left in free agency? No one decent that I can think of. That being said does anyone have the Dominator's # in the Czech Republic? Suggestions?

Honestly though, not a bad idea.....it would make for an interesting finish to the season.
thesportsbuff Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 u heard it from darcy himself "LALIME IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS FOR A #2 GOALIE" LLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL anybody who wants to join me in a cult-esque mass suicide to try to prove a point to the morons runnin the team feel free to PM
SabresFan526 Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 I don't think Lalime is horrible, but Darcy really made a mistake in signing Lalime. The guy he really should have gone after in free agency last year was Alex Auld. Lalime is a former starter who's no longer good enough to start, but those types of guys need rhythm and a lot of starts to play well. Alex Auld is a total backup who can play the role perfectly once every 4-5 games and play those games well. I wish Darcy had signed Auld instead of Lalime, but this is what we're stuck with. On the plus side, since Lalime is a former starter, he will now get his chance to get into a groove, so he has no excuse to play poorly from here on out.
rclcryan Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 St. Louis and Chicago fans don't want him, and I sure as heck don't want him.... How did this guy get back into the NHL after 97 anyway? Oh yeah....Ottawa. Blame Ottawa.

Well Auld helped us out today a lot more than Lalime. He made 41 saves to beat Carolina for us.

True, and with Florida's loss we're looking at everyone kinda hanging around where we are. That is until tomorrow night when we'll see a likely Pittsburgh and Ranger victory. *sigh*
PromoTheRobot Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 You should all go back and read your Conklin, Rolleson, etc posts. EVERY SABRES BACKUP GOALIE SUCKS! Until they go to another team and stand on their head. Why is that? Could it be that maybe these goalies actually get better when they get playing time? NAH! As for tonight, Lalime looked nervous and the wrap-around goal is all on him. That said, how about holding the rest of these team to a higher standard? How about scoring more than one goal before the last minute f the game, huh? PTR

The Shots were pretty low for the Ducks, and that's surprising for a team like ours that is so soft on D.

PTR Could it also be that the team (mostly the defence) in front of them is overrated and streaky and is only in most games because the #1 goalie is better then some fans want to give him credit?
carpandean Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 As for tonight, Lalime looked nervous and the wrap-around goal is all on him. The wrap-around went off of Gaustad's skate. They did until after the short-handed goal in the second. For the remainder of that period, they wilted a bit. which is fine, but you still have to score goals. Absolutely.

ExiledInIllinois Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Lalime's first shot against him was on a breakaway. That is unacceptable. That too. I agree the team hung him out to dry... Yet, he could have helped himself by stopping Sel?nne! :wallbash: :wallbash: Anyway... For some reason I thought they would lose, BFLO has a very good record on Vs., I knew the gig was up with this game.

Well, they're a win one/lose one team, so seeing as they beat the Rags, I expected them to lose his one too. The silverlining is that if the trend continues, losing against Anaheim was definitely the one they needed to lose, but that's just the optimist in me grabbing a straws in the worst way.

carpandean Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 What would you expect Darcy to say in an interview? Yeah seriously. One thing we all know about Darcy is that he plays his cards close to the cuff. He could have been on hold with another GM finalizing a deal for another goaltender and still said what he said. Until/unless someone else is brought in, Lalime is the starting goaltender, so Darcy has to say that they have the utmost confidence in him. At least he didn't say that Patty would be a #1 on several team or something crazy like that.
