darksabre Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Buffalo is a major hotspot for women hockey players, especially in the college ranks. RIT has several girls from the Western NY area on the Women's team, and they are very very good. Katie Stack used to play with the men's team in Batavia and she leads DIII Women's hockey in short handed goals. The Lady Tigers are ranked second in all of DIII Women's Hockey. Women's hockey is actually a lot of fun to watch. Sure they can't hit (not that they don't want to. I'm looking at you Stack and Klassen) but it's hockey and it's a different atmosphere. There's a lot more respect towards opposing teams than in Men's hockey. And some of these girls are VERY good. I encourage anyone with some free time (especially if you have kids) to go check out local women's college hockey teams. Elmira has a very good teams. Buff State is mediocre but it's still worth watching. In the Rochester area come watch RIT, they're free games! And we're not allowed to swear, so little kids are fine! :D Go Tigers!
