2ForTripping Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Just heard on the radio the blue shirts gave Renney his walking papers...
spndnchz Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Anybody heard of this guy Jimmy Schoenfeld rumored to be new coach.

nucci Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Anybody heard of this guy Jimmy Schoenfeld rumored to be new coach. If that is true, we won't have to worry about the Rangers for a long time.
wonderbread Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 to bad. I really was starting to enjoy watching the NY media ignore the rags.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 For anybody watching the Rangers game yesterday, the look on his face all game almost screamed "I'm about to be fired". I think they had probably already made the decision, but didn't want to go public with it and steal the thunder from the Bathgate/Howell ceremony.
kingcongkorab Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I was reading one of the Yahoo hockey blogs the other day and they had a rountable conversation with several NYC media and bloggers on Renney's status. The convevtional wisdom was that his job was safe because of his playoff success the past 2 years and at worst he would be kicked upstairs and that Sather was in more trouble.
Kristian Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 That's a bit of a shame, I was quite enjoying seeing that payroll going south like they were being paid to do it, pun intended.

Chief Enabler Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 The story: http://www.nypost.com/seven/02232009/sport...nney_156586.htm Wow. surprised, I think he is a very good coach. Just because he couldnt motivate a bunch of overpaid humps is a crime. Missing Jagr, Avery & Shanahan make a difference?
FogBat Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 139th head coaching change since 7.21.1997 :D I wonder how long it's going to be until we start hearing donut jokes again  After all, Schoeny and Don Koharski are sure to cross paths once again.
FogBat Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 The story: http://www.nypost.com/seven/02232009/sport...nney_156586.htm Some of the comments on that particular article are also quite revealing. Reddensux wrote, "Honestly, they should've fired Redden, Drury, Kalinin and of course the general manager who's responsible for signing these players, Glen Sather. It's unfortunate that the coach always shoulders the blame for a bunch of overpaid and underachieving athletes." To think that some Sabres fans want Drury back in the fold. <_< At least everyone in SabreNation was right about one thing: Tree had to go and Darcy made sure of that.
millbank Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Don't rule out John Tortorella as the new coach..... Not no favorite here, but Pat Quinn would be a good call for this group of Rangers.... mind you Tim Horton's would certainly appreciate Donuts gaining their proper status again....

X. Benedict Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Wow. surprised, I think he is a very good coach. Just because he couldnt motivate a bunch of overpaid humps is a crime. Missing Jagr, Avery & Shanahan make a difference? I don't think motivation was an issue, and I've come to like Renney as a coach.... the composition of that Blueline was really the question. Kalinin, , Mara, Girardi ........ and signing Redden to megabucks was the dumbest move of all ... Although they added speed, this team got hemmed in its own zone too much to make much use of Zherdev and pouring more money into a guy that stopped backchecking 5 years ago in Naslund. I don't think anybody is really going to do much better with this bunch.
