deluca67 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 sellers at the deadline... :wallbash: :wallbash: I don't them to be, but reality is we can't win with LaLime in the competitve playoff race... Trust me, you are treading on dangerous ground here. That said, despite the protests of some here weak of heart it is topic to discuss. I think it is safe to say that Miller will be gone beyond the deadline. How should the Sabres proceed? What if they go about business as if Miller is coming back and keep the team intact hoping for a late playoff push and Miller ends up being out longer? They can end up out of the playoffs having pase dup on some deals that could help in the future. Namely picks and prospects for those on the roster without a long term future with the Sabres. It's a tough choice brought about by tough circumstances.
... Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I doubt the Miller injury changes any of their plans for the deadline. Miller will be back before the playoffs start and it's not like we have room to pick up a goalie, let alone the money. I don't think the Sabres would be buyers or sellers before the deadline unless it was a slam-dunk deal (for the Sabres - need I say it?) And, the way DR works, whatever he does, if he does anything at all, might not even look good because the deal will span months like it did to get Rivet here. I would like DR to find a mean center. Don't know if one exists who is up for grabs. But the main thing is that I have some faith in Lalime. If he gets support on the ice from the rest of the team (like he should) then the Sabres could very well hang in there and do okay. I'd say he's at least as good as Price. ;)
