bob_sauve28 Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Is he always the first player back on the back check? He may not be scoring a lot but it seems to me he is not a defensive liability at all.
nucci Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Who? Just another of our average forwards with very little offensive skills.
stenbaro Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 he's worthless..A roster spot easily replaced...next

Oh, that is right we only track turnovers for MAx! This guy, does nothing for this team! He is a no talent slow hockey player!

As soon as the play turns around he jets back as fast as possible into the defensive zone. He is like a third defenseman at times. Lindy is keeping him in the line up for some reason and my guess is because he back checks so well
LabattBlue Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 We all have our whipping boys, but I can't believe all the hate towards guys like MacArthur and Paille. Anyone who believes they are the reason why the Sabres aren't doing better, needs to look at the guys higher up the pay scale AND who also happen to have a LOT more NHL experience. What are you expecting from them? Paille has played 174 NHL games, MacArthur 113 games and both are 25 or younger.

I dont hate Macarthur at all..I just think he neither really hurts the team nor helps them..
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 I dont hate Macarthur at all..I just think he neither really hurts the team nor helps them.. Well you used the term "worthless" in describing him. And for a young guy who's spent the majority of the year on the 3rd and 4th lines, 12 goals and 25 points isn't half bad.

I find players like that worthless..You can find them anywhere....We have too many of them on this team and thats one of the reasons they are where they are..

There isn't a single team in the NHL that isn't chocked full of players like that. They're called 3rd and 4th liners.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I'm way too busy hating Afinogenov, Kotalik, Lydman and Connolly to hate MacArthur and Paille. I have to think it's getting a lot harder to hate Connolly and his 1 point per game. Besides, how do you hate a guy for being injury prone?
stenbaro Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 There isn't a single team in the NHL that isn't chocked full of players like that. They're called 3rd and 4th liners. Youre right the NHL is full of them however the top teams 3rd or fourth liners are a lot better than the SAbres 3rd or 4th liners...The problem I see is that we have one line on this team and the rest are all 3rd or 4th liners for the most part...
bob_sauve28 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 I'm way too busy hating Afinogenov, Kotalik, Lydman and Connolly to hate MacArthur and Paille. I don't "hate" any of the players really. They are human beings that are involved in intense competition and some just don't stack up for whatever reasons. As to your list: Max obviously has not stacked up. He's probably played his last game for the team, I would think. Ales does what he does. I think his problem is he doesn't pass well enough. Still, as a third liner he is a valuable player that chips in points Lydman is a really good player, blocks shots, is tough in the corner. He got beat pretty bad by Boyle a few games ago, but generally is pretty solid Timmy is just a super skilled player and I hope we ink him to some sort of deal Glad to see Paille coming around. He's picked a good time to turn his game around with Vanek being out.
