carpandean Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 According to several sources, including sportsnet.ca (first video on the right of their hockey page), La Presse columnist Richard Labbe is promising a major report tomorrow (Friday) about some young players on the Canadiens that could result in criminal charges. I found one french report, which translated seems to say that they were involved with members of gangs. One player mentioned was Sergei Kostitsyn, but that report said no charges have been brought against him. Should be interesting to see what, if anything, comes of this.
... Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 My wife was into the soap opera MVP when it was on. The one Russian player kept getting calls in the locker room from mobsters back in Russia threatening his family (back home) if he didn't pay up.

carpandean Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=267916&...s=topStory_main The younger Kostitsyn is in the AHL right now, but the other two are bigger parts of the Canadiens roster. However, it just sounds like they have bad choices in friends, nothing more.
deluca67 Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Wasn't the NHL founded by Mobsters? I thought I saw something about that on a CBC special a long long time ago.

Then tie in the boxing connection and the ability to jump the border of two countries and the laws they have... Quite a racket they had going during the Original Six days... Didn't the owners keep two sets of books?
