spndnchz Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 You're not blond, you're not stupid and you're not in college. I, however, AM an old grumpy bastard. I am 100% authentic, and I have the ear hair combover to prove it. daddy? is that you? 100% authentic
LabattBlue Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 ?The talent is here,? Miller said. ?We have to grow. This is part of our education. We put ourselves in a tough position. [Two years ago], things seemed to come easy to us. I think we have a new respect for what it means to be a playoff-caliber team. We?re learning. We?re starting to figure out we have a lot of life left in us. No matter what direction this goes, this has been a great education.? http://www.buffalonews.com/opinions/column...ory/625770.html So how many years of learning with this "group" do we have to go through before they even make the playoffs let alone contend for a Cup? :(
Kristian Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 So how many years of learning with this "group" do we have to go through before they even make the playoffs let alone contend for a Cup? :( Well, considering it took them 2.5 years to learn what every other casual fan knew from day 1, I'd say pretty much until these guys contracts expire and we can finally get rid of them? Provided this isn't just another "Sabres Talk". Heck, I fear that term is going to end up in the dictionary one day : 'Sabres Talk' - When someone repeatedly says exactly what is expected of him/her, yet does not act accordingly.
jwcolour Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Not that I think we are going to get in... but how are we in head to head points against these teams? Considering we need to win games and need the others to collapse if (Humongaloid sized if) we do end up tied in points with these teams we should have the 1st tiebreaker of games won over whoever we tie (only because we'll have to win the games). Seeing as how we are going to be annihilated against Washington, New Jersey and Detroit I don't see this happening. Stranger things however have, and it atleast gives you another reason to drink tomorrow and saturday, probably heavily.

The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season. We have won 4 of 6 against Montreal.
jwcolour Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 We have won 4 of 6 against Montreal. Nice, though I feel if we do end up tying in points we'll probably already have the win total over them since we need to win our games and need them to lose theirs...but if we somehow end up tying them in wins and points interesting to know we have tiebreaker. If only they and the panthers would start choking it up like we did now. Not to bring us back to an old topic but since I hear it so often whenever any game goes to OT... getting to OT shouldn't be a point... some think its fair, from what I percieve most think its stupid for a losing team to be awarded points... I say give the losers a half-point. Not much of a reward but you do it twice you pick up a point... eh well thats another topic altogether. I'm bored.

The good news is only 89 days to free agency. With so many guys up for renewals, there should be some changes around here.

Mbossy Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 For better or for worse? Better we all hope. Worse is Montreal up 4-1 tonight.
SabresFan526 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Better we all hope. Worse is Montreal up 4-1 tonight. Montreal won 5-1. Now, Montreal moves into 7th place and the Rangers are in 8th with their loss to Carolina. Buffalo now back 7 points on Montreal, 6 behind the Rangers, and 4 behind Florida. There's a lot of catching up to do. We can only hope that Atlanta takes care of Florida as they play each other twice over the next week. Not good news for Buffalo.

We have one on Florida and two on Rangers. Of course, those two are Washington and NJ back-to-back in different cities ...
Cereal Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Interesting how at about Game 68, everyone was saying there's no way we could catch the Flyers. Well, the Canes did. So did the Pens (which doesn't surprise me as much). Anyway, a great race going on for the 4th spot (home ice in first round) right now. PIT@CAR Saturday afternoon. Enjoy it!

Maybe people meant at game 68 that there is no way that WE could catch the Flyers. We being the Buffalo Sabres and not so much that there's no way that anyone in a similar position at the time could catch them. I honestly could care less about the home ice in first round fight. In any sport I become increasingly disinterested when my team isn't in the chase (though we could catch Rangers with a miracle) until the playoffs actually start. I guess i'll rout for my western/2nd fav- hawks but it's still hard to get geared up for the playoffs without a team to go bonkers for.

It will be interesting in my house, I've got housemates who are Pens, Caps, and Flyers fans. I root for SJ in the West myself.
apuszczalowski Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 So, according to the guys on the broadcast, Buffalo is playing NJ tomorrow at home in the Aud? LOL, are they making another outdoor game?
Corp000085 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 atlanta just scored. 2-1 over florida in the middle of the 3rd

Buffalo Wings Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Please please please Boston beat NYR tomorrow!!!!!!!!! 1-0 Boston after one period.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 1-0 Boston after one period. Still 1-0 Bruins after two periods...I think I speak for everybody when I say I've never been a bigger Tim Thomas fan!
Cereal Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 1-0 Boston after one period. Rangers outplayed the Bruins by a lot that second period. Still 1-0 B's though.
Buffalo Wings Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Rangers outplayed the Bruins by a lot that second period. Still 1-0 B's though. Bruins just killed off a 4-on-3. Less than 90 seconds....Lundqvist is on the bench..... Still 1-0.
tulax Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Nice, Gomez with a dumb penalty and the Bruins go on the PP with less than a min. to go
Buffalo Wings Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Nice, Gomez with a dumb penalty and the Bruins go on the PP with less than a min. to go Not quite the justice I'd like to see, but I wasn't complaining. Bruins win 1-0. Another chance for the Sabres to take advantage....if there is a God, they'll do so tonight.
