jwcolour Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Atleast neither Montreal or Florida has it easy today. Blackhawks have been playing a bit worse than usual but they are still damn good if Khabi is in net... and Ottawa has been playing well of late..
SwampD Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 He initially made a lot of really good quick saves... then... yeah. When are the Devils going to just ignore Avery. He owns Brodeur. As much as I hate the fact that the Rags won, living in NJ as I do, it's kinda satisfying to see someone get the better of them.
jwcolour Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Well it didn't take long for the Hawks D to totally screw that up and it seems like whenever they start Huet over Khabi they totally suck and it was also a pretty crappy goal to let in by Huet.
bob_sauve28 Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Damn, 3-0. Can't we get any help??? :death:
jwcolour Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Damn, 3-0. Can't we get any help??? :death: Nope, Florida is up 2 on Ottawa... looks like we are F'ed. Eh well our own fault.
Stoner Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Damn, 3-0. Can't we get any help??? :death: Got plenty.
carpandean Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Got plenty. Yeah, but that was when we were losing. We're winning now. You mean we can't assume that everyone else will continue to lose?! :wallbash:
rickshaw Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 It's not looking good. I am officially announcing it's over. This is it. Sadly. Damn.
Kristian Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Nope, Florida is up 2 on Ottawa... looks like we are F'ed. Eh well our own fault. No it's not our own fault. It was due to Timmy's injury. It was due to the new system, players needed 70 games to adjust. It was due to guys still getting adjusted to their new role on the team. It was due to Vanek's injury. It was due to Miller's injury. Everything will be much better next year, there is no doubt that this is a playoff team. /Larry Quinn mode off
spndnchz Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Well the Sens are finally eliminated. Although the Senators have been one of the league's hottest teams of late, they playoff hopes were dashed. They had won 10 of 13, but are in 11th place in the East. Ottawa, a Stanley Cup finalist in 2007, hadn't missed the playoffs since the 1995-96 season.
CallawaySabres Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Montreal and Florida are both making the playoffs. Rangers and Sabres left out in the cold.
Kristian Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Montreal and Florida are both making the playoffs. Rangers and Sabres left out in the cold. Well, if that's how it turns out, I can't ever say I'll be sorry to see the Rags and their overpaid "stars" miss the playoffs. This has nothing to do with Drury, although I won't be sad to see him miss the playoffs either, but rather that I've always hated the Rags for continually trying to buy a championship, and driving the price for 2nd and 3rd tier stars sky-high in the past. Anyone remember how Bobby Holik was given an 8 mill. a year deal by these clowns!??!

Now we're growing up and realize how hard we have to work. This is our education. (Paraphrasing.)
spndnchz Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Wouldn't it be sweet if we got in and we end up playing these teams Bruins- Round 1 Devils Round 2 Rangers -Round 3 Carolina for the Cup. and... Have you looked at the West? 5 teams still in contention, the last team, Kings, 11 points out with 6 games to go.
Kristian Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Did you hear the latest one from Miller? It was too easy two years ago. Now we're growing up and realize how hard we have to work. This is our education. (Paraphrasing.) You gotta be kidding me? And then again, it doesn't surprise me one bit. As I've said all along - Some of these guys (the brat pack) won too many games too early in their careers, meaning they find it hard to understand that they need to work their butts off to be succesful. Too many guys think they're too good apparently, and when they say "we need to work harder" they really mean "the other guys need to work harder, but not me cause I'm a star player". That would just fine if it were one or maybe two players, but it would seem that's just how the entire brat pack, and Hecht, thinks. But what's really weird about this though, is that I doubt anyone ever considered the 05/06 team lazy, and I think most of us consider that team to be better than the 06/07 team, even if they didn't win that ridiculously unimportmant piece of silverware that some call The Presidents Trophy. So I guess what really bothers me about this statement, is that apparently it's taken Miller and his buddies almost three full seasons to figure out that hard work wins games, and playing lazy loses games, even though the most succesful team thet had in recent years, was also the hardest working one (I consider going to game 7 of the ECF to be more of a success than getting ousted in 5 in the same situation, unimportant silverware aside). Wow, quite the revelation for the guys right there, I must say. The reason I wrote three seasons instead of two, is that this particularly nasty habit of theirs started with the 06/07 team. Oh well, I suppose we can always hope Miller & Co. might actually back-up such a statement with some action and that they have truly learned that valuable lesson, but until proven otherwise I'll put no stock in what comes out of any Sabre's mouth these days.

Well, we can't really play the DivingCanes for the cup as we're in the same conference, but yes eliminating them anytime, anywhere, would certainly be sweet.

Stoner Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 Where did you hear that (paraphrasing)? Quoted in Bucky's column but I also heard it on TV (not posted on sabres.com, which is curious). Can't vouch for the complete accuracy of BG's transcription, but here it is: ?The talent is here,? Miller said. ?We have to grow. This is part of our education. We put ourselves in a tough position. [Two years ago], things seemed to come easy to us. I think we have a new respect for what it means to be a playoff-caliber team. We?re learning. We?re starting to figure out we have a lot of life left in us. No matter what direction this goes, this has been a great education.? http://www.buffalonews.com/opinions/column...ory/625770.html

Stoner Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 whatever dad. It's OK if you don't know that the two conferences meet for the Cup. You're just a young girl. You'll learn.
