Why the hell not?!!!?! If they don't have the hunger, man, then burn the arena down there is no sense playing...you need to be like a dog eating a hot breakfast off a Brillo pad and work harder than the littlest brother trying to get an extra piece a pot roast two days before payday. :)

Pure gold!

I'm not a Robitaille hater, but anybody who watches the intermission reports knows that he gets too upset with the Sabres when they're playing poorly. He takes this really disgusted tone of voice when they aren't up to snuff and you really can't have that in the broadcast booth.

I love Roby and his Roby-isms. I'm glad he gets pissed when they aren't playing well. I feel the same way.

The closest guy around the league to Roby as a color guy, I think, is the semi-retired Mickey Redmond on the Red Wings broadcasts. I lived in Detroit for 6 years and he is a true color guy in that he brings a lot of color to the game. And just as we in Buffalo talk about Roby-isms, the Detroit faithful talk about Mickey-isms- "a BC two-hander [vicious slash]", "awe, coach, we were only have a few 'ginger ales'! [beers], that kind of thing.

He does some college games for FS-Detroit and isn't bad at all. Is he doing the Red Wings, also?

Others have mentioned it, but I'd love to see Daryl Reaugh here. When you compare him to guys like Darren Eliot, he's quite a breath of fresh air....very unassuming and doesn't "know-it-all" you to death.

Ken Daniels has been doing the Red Wings games for several years now- since the 97-98 season. The Wings used to have Dave Strader as play-by-play guy before Daniels; he's pretty good too. (I think we heard his call in Phoenix in January when MSG was giving RJ some time off.) He has kind of a Ted-Darling-like quality to his call I think.

And Daryl Reaugh is just goofy, while being knowledgeable at the same time. He likes to befuddle PbP guy Ralph Stranges with vocabulary words from hell. Heheh.
