ThePebble19 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Everyone has a crappy drop pass, and a crappy cross ice pass...noone takes a shot. This is the most frustrating game since the new year for me.
thesportsbuff Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I completely agree with this, I was just saying that he was skating hard. Unfortunately, his skill set is just not quite there yet. The AHL is a much slower animal than the NHL. He's not twice as fast as everyone up here. Just ask Alex Giroux. The guy is a goals machine for Hershey, and completely blows every time he gets called up. Haha, yeah he is skating hard, I'll give him that. I don't see why Lindy would put him on the powerplay though.. I think Pominville might sweeten up any deal to get a real goal-scoring forward, yes/no?

For the longest time, I wouldn't even consider thinking of that, but man he just can't seem to do anything...He was a great puckhandler at the very least, and he can't even do that tonight.
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Are the Sens a specially design weapon or not? Purely built/designed to beat the Sabres AND ONLY THE SABRES! :wallbash: :wallbash:

ExiledInIllinois Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 This is your last chance to salvage a game from a bad OTT team! Get a PPG here and the Sabres may be in business to try and get the equalizer... That is all we can ask for at this point... Get it done!
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Phuck! The Rags win in SO and so do the Pens... :censored: :censored: The only hope tonight is an Oil win against the Habs... What a bust of a night!
SwampD Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Pominville is worthless. I'd rather see Paille out there. At least he tries.
thesportsbuff Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 For real -- Paille hasn't been great lately but it sure beats Pominville being a spectator.
Grinder42 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Three teams right behind us. Three teams right ahead of us. Which way will we go? The answer starts tonight. Well 1-13 with no physical presence in front of the net....doesn't look encouraging. I know people love Gerbe and I was one of them.....He's never gone make it playing in the big boy league. Weber, looked bad. Pominville bad ( need to be benched) Hecht ( another no show) and our Defense just let Miller get run all night.....The Sabres better prove they can man up and play tough or they will see this sort of game the rest of the way!
BuffalOhio Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Brutal game tonight. Power play? Meh. No intensity, no fire. WTF boys? How was that called a goal when Jerkoff Ruutu was IN THE CREASE AND CONTACTING THE GOALTENDER? Sabres really miss Vanek and Goose on the PP in front of the net. Too much perimeter play otherwise. Dammit!
SabresFan526 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 There is absolutely nothing positive to say tonight. The Sens gave the Sabres every opportunity to get into this game with 14 penalties and 13 powerplays. Absolutely unheard of and they can muster up only one PP goal while Ottawa gets two against the so called #5 PK in the NHL. Well, I don't buy it. Clearly, without Vanek and Gaustad this team absolutely has zero presence in front of the net that will help us score goals. There is no one who can make the tip play or has the skill in front of the net that these two guys have and it is painfully obvious that the Sabres PP is going to suffer tremendously without them. The kids in Portland are not good enough to replace these guys. I think it's time Darcy start working on the phones and see if there is a trade to be had because this combination of forwards will not help the scoring. As for the callups. Send them all back to Portland. Gerbe did absolutely nothing. He's not making smart reads. When the play is behind the net he should be standing in the slot to collect a centering pass but he is nowhere nearby. It happened 3 times that I counted. He's not using his speed, he's not getting into scoring positions and he's generally not doing what made him get called up in the first place. For those who think Mike Weber is the saving grace for this organization, I think this game clearly proves he is not ready for the NHL yet. This guy takes too many stupid penalties. He had 3 penalties. This has been his problem in Portland and he showed it again tonight. He's not ready to play in the NHL if he's going to take so many stupid penalties that are unnecessary. As for the defenseman as a whole, why does Chris Butler wait till 1 minute left in the game to actually hit a guy when Miller gets run over? I'm glad at least someone responded, but it could have been done a lot earlier than 1 minute left in the third. It's been going on all game long and there's nothing from Rivet, Lydman, or anyone on this team. Our so called savior, Mike Weber does nothing in front of the net to clear the crease and hurt any of the forwards that take a run at Miller. I'm highly disappointed with Weber during this callup. As for the veteran forwards, that was just pathetic. I'm referring to Roy, Pominville, and Hecht in particular. Stafford did nothing tonight either. This was just an ugly ugly performance and we've got San Jose coming in. I'm concerned about an absolute slaughter on Friday if this is the same team that shows up. Absolutely pathetic.

Dammit! Who cares. 13 PPs. Nothing. And then noone hit their goalie. We did not diserve a point tonight.
mrjsbu96 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 It sucks that it happened against OTT, a bad team and a team I think we all just about universally hate, but is thee any chance they just had a bad game tonight? Factor in o Vanek and Goose in front and it was just a bad game. Overall, they have played pretty well in 09? DOes the team need to be dismantled b/c of this game?
wonderbread Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Who cares. 13 PPs. Nothing. And then noone hit their goalie. We did not diserve a point tonight. One word could be used to describe that preformance tonight... Shitfest. I'm not even gonna rag on Pominville that is to easy. The team that Lindy iced tonight won't last a minute against San Jose!

LabattBlue Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I have seen some bad games in person this year and this one ranks right up there. I was bored out of my mind for most of the game. The Sabres so called "skilled" players should be embarrassed by that performance. It's probably not fair to single out one player on a night like tonight, but Hecht is clearly not the same player now that he hit the jackpot with the contract DR handed him. Keep telling yourself that everything is okay Darcy and chalk it up to injuries.
... Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Well, that sucked. No energy at all. None. Totally uninspired play. Send Weber away. Gerbe isn't ready for the big time. JJ Pommers is a waste. Even Mr. The Skill was more like Mr. The Butter-fingers. The General has completely lost the spark he had early in the season. Miller was far away. That's it. No wonder the crowds are quiet. The crowd gets totally into it when the team does, but you can't fool 18,690 - none of us saw anything to cheer for. Does the team hear the booing? Damn.
Bmwolf21 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Keep telling yourself that everything is okay Darcy and chalk it up to injuries. There's his built-in excuse.
deluca67 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Glad I had to work and miss the game. I will just delete from Tivo. From all accounts 'Team Pu$$y' made it's return to the HSBC arena.
inkman Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 'Team Pu$$y' Sounds much more promising than what is actually delivered.
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 As a professional scoreboard watcher... At least the Habs are biting the dust against the Oilers... 6-1, 2nd intermission. Everybody seems to be packing up from the 4-5th spot on down to 10. At least there is a little sunshine after tonight. <_<
Kristian Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 What worries me isn't losing. It's how they come out this flat after 3 days off, against a hated division rival, in a game a they absolutely need to win. If anyone had doubts who this teams passengers are, I think they had big red X's painted on their backs tonight, for easier identification. And it's good to see passenger #1, Pominville talk the talk as usual after a loss like this one : "It was frustrating," said Jason Pominville, who has gone 17 games without a goal. "We couldn't find a way. We have to be better at it." No Jason - YOU need to be better at it. Drop that "we" stuff. Some of you are more of a problem than others, quit trying to pretend you're not one of them. Now bring on the damn Sharks, so we can get this stain out quick.
carpandean Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I had to leave to play in a game of my own during the second period, but from what I saw, all I can say is: at least we couldn't lose more than one game tonight. That one should have cost four or six points, it was so bad. Ugh. When you lose Vanek and Gaustad, your options run thin:
