I'm sure I'm leaving a few off and will add any that warrant inclusion.

Smolinski's grin, and Connolly and then Drury wiping it right off his face.

EDIT: Also, reports of raping, pilaging, baby murder, and just simply uncouth behavior, such as having the audacity to not sit on one's hands when the good guys score.

7-6, as Taro pointed out, and Drury tying game 5 vs. the Rangers with 2 seconds left. Those 2 are mandatory. Another possibility is losing all of our defensemen in the ECF vs. Carolina.

My vote is 7-6.

I thought there was a "manage this topic's poll" feature but I can't seem to locate it.

I used to have the pic of Smolinski's #%^$#! eating grin on my laptop and now I can't find it.

Pominville making Alfie, Redden and Emery look like fools, followed by the pissed off shot of Muckler in the press box will always be a top moment in Sabres history.

Of the ones listed, this blows everything else away (to me, at least).

Others you can add:

- Game 5 vs Rangers (Drury & Max combined or separate), as nfreeman says

- Game 3 vs Ottawa in 2006 - JP's OT floater (Dumont, not the other JP)...this is my most-watched video from YouTube :worthy:

- Max skating around the entire Philly team (including Ken Hitchcock) in early 06-07

There were a ton of moments during those two years, but for a lot of obvious reasons and a couple of personal ones, this is it.

Yes. He was canned after that game, and Clarke was kicked upstairs. Getting Philly's coach fired (esp. when that coach was Hitch) should definitely be on the list.

I believe that it is at the bottom left.

This was the first one that came to mind for me. 7-6 was there, too, as was "the hit" and Pommer's series-ending OT shorty.

Edit: game 7 against Carolina with the depleted D is on the other end of the spectrum as the moment that I'd most like to forget.

Pommers' clincher vs. Senators. My family was picking me up from college for the summer, and me, my dad, and my brother got a bar at a restaurant to show the game. Pommers scores, we start going nuts, and meanwhile no one else in the restaurant has a clue what's going on!

I wasn't at the game when Pommers beat Alfie, but it would be my number 2 pick.

My number one would be the Drury hit. I was at that game with my father. That was the first time I heard my oherwise cleaned-mouth'd father start swearing up a storm. I had a few choice words myself. But that feeling of the team coming together and sticking up for each other was awesome. To be honest, right now I'm more worried about Vanek being out than when Drury was. How times change...

This is my favorite, too. I loved the Pominville play later in the series but this pair of plays was probably more important. I'm sure I was not alone in wanting to strangle Smolinksi at that moment, so the Connolly and Drury plays felt extra good a few minutes later. Also, the performances by Derek Roy and Tim Connolly in that game were amazing.

all this #%^$#! you guys just brought up brings a tear to my eye

7-6 was possibly the best FULL hockey game I've seen to date.

The series clincher was probably the happiest I've ever been in my life -- or, if not that, then Briere's game 6 OT winner vs Carolina...

Drury vs The Rangers was INSANE -- we had a huge pile-on and went nuts. I had thrown (and partially broke ><) my cell phone when the Rangers scored... I thought for sure it was over, and the way the playoffs were going that year, I didn't see us winning the next two. Oh man, when he scored that #%^$#! it was nuts...

Another one that kind of goes under the radar was when Vanek first used his "around the world" in the shootout vs Hasek and the Senators in early 2006. Beating Ottawa that day was a huge statement and gave me all the confidence in the world about the team that year.

Hey ink, I think I have my moment. That arena after the tying goal. Maybe one of the great moments in franchise history, actually. And it didn't have a damned thing to do with hockey, IMHO.

Agreed, tonight may have been the moment.

I still have Drury's Game 5 goal, Connolly's goal is definitely up there, and Pommer's goal. But, given the circumstances with the plane crash and all, I think tonight's game tying goal may just be the most special moment in Sabres history.

I will have that image forever burned into my memory... The spotlight of ScotiaBank Place (changed from Corel Centre that winter) on him and his raised hands as to signify that he was some false prophet or something. So glad to wipe that mug clean...

Oh... I voted for Pommers making Alfie and Emery look like asswipes. The bad part is that OTT is totally bent on being built to kill the Sabres and we are paying today yet at OTT's expense of getting cleaned by the rest of the league since mid-season last year! I will take the martyrdom any single minute for having that Pominville goal!

Hands down this was the biggest moment.. It was epic. And it seems an overwhelming number agree..

I will never forget Smolinski with that smirk under the spot light. Redemption was so sweet and to this day, that moment teaches me to be humble because things can turn around quickly.

The whole 2006 playoffs as a whole is my personal highlight. I went to 5 amazing games, 4 in HSBC Arena and Game 1 Vs. Carolina in Raleigh. In HSBC I saw Game 1 vs. Philly (Briere scores in OT to win) Game 5 vs Philly (sunday afternoon game. Ryan Miller Shutout i believe) Game 3 vs Ottawa, (JP Dumont OT winner) and Games 1 and 6 against Carolina (3-2 win and Briere in overtime to force game 7) Never in my life did I feel the Sabres were going to win the Stanley Cup (this includes the Dallas series in 99) more than that year. I get so depressed thinking about losing Connolly, Kalinin, Teppo, and Mckee to injuries. Being up 2-1 early in the third in Game 7 in Carolina to lose... jesus.

2006-07.. was completely anticlimactic for me. It lacked the surprise and amazement of the previous season. I never felt they'd win.
