And skating at United Skates of America. I thought about adding the Red Barn, but it wasn't a "store" per se. But I did forget to add Twin Fair.

And skating at United Skates of America. There was a Red Barn on Main Street across from the UB Campus. Next to it was a fish and chips place called Arthur Treachers. I guess it's still a chain, but I haven't thought about that place in years and years. There is a Subway there now I think.

carpandean Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I know that it's not the point of the thread, but I wanted to point out that: Vanek with jaw surgery.Goose out with shoulder issues. + Seems like forever until Wed vs. Ottawa. = A good thing. The more time off while these guys are out, the better.

Ohiofan Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I can remember Kaufmann's used to be Sibley's, which used to be Sattlers or Hengerer's? Dahlkempers (sic?) Bowling for Dollars. Cavages Arthur Treacher's Super Duper markets Crystal Beach The Charter House Berger's and Jenss Hens and Kelly, and their S&H Green Stamps Fotomat Your Host OMG you are kidding me...Cavages??!! I don't think I've heard that word in 30 years at least. Sheesh. Used to be THE place to go before Record Theatre went in on Main. Remember that place??? I had never see so many ALBUMS in my life. Yeah, thats right... I said ALBUMS. I still call them that. My kids are like: "Mommmmmm....." complete with the eye roll. We still have an Arthur Treachers here south of me in Mansfield. Fotomat? HA HA! Times they are a changin'. So I take it Crystal Beach is no more? Oh man, when we were young and partying and wild that was the place. Along with Sherkston. Pile in the car and hope to make it across...smuggling all kinds of stuff. How very stupid we were. HA HA!
All Along The Watchtower Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Star Market! I think an outfit called Apples bought out Star...at least where ever there was a Star, an Apples took its place. The thing I remember about Apples is that they took every type of bottle and gave you a nickel back. When I went to Brockport, we use to take our Canadian bottles there and Apples would reimburse us the $.05 (I think we paid a dime/bottle in Canada, but it was worth getting the instant deposit! )
