Vanek with jaw surgery.

Goose out with shoulder issues.

Seems like forever until Wed vs. Ottawa.

I'm lost in Two Guys. Flame away.

The question is:

What old stores do U remember? Please 'show your age'.

Jenns... for the Niagara Falls natives out there, to go with Grant's. ;-)

Kleinhans (in the Brisbane building in downtown Buffalo, as Chuck Healy would say on Strikes, Spares, and Misses...)

I thought about adding the Red Barn, but it wasn't a "store" per se.

But I did forget to add Twin Fair.

I remember the old general store by the Erie Canal. We used to get our hard tack and spices there.

Lock the thread, because we've got a winner.

There was a Red Barn on Main Street across from the UB Campus. Next to it was a fish and chips place called Arthur Treachers. I guess it's still a chain, but I haven't thought about that place in years and years. There is a Subway there now I think.

...which then became Gold Circle.

PS Location on Walden & Dick still has a street sign up named Twin Fair Drive(I don't know if that is the actual name of the street)

Some Rochester favorites from the 60s and 70s...forgive me, spelling may be off on a few.

Scrantams (stationary)

Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod (a finer toy store you'll never find)

McCurdys

Edwards

Sibleys

Naum Brothers (catalog store)

Two Guys, as was already mentioned

Tent City (the name sez it all, they also had a great toy selection)

Gem (this was a members only type store, sorta like BJs, Sams Club, etc)

Big N (A Niesners spin-off)

J M Fields (like Big N, etc)

I know that it's not the point of the thread, but I wanted to point out that:

A good thing.

The more time off while these guys are out, the better.

EDIT: and O'Connell, Lucas and Shelf, who used to sponsor Sabres' games.

O'Connell is still around--still on Main Street. Now you've made me remember Kleinhans and Campus Corner, though.

OMG you are kidding me...Cavages??!! I don't think I've heard that word in 30 years at least. Sheesh. Used to be THE place to go before Record Theatre went in on Main. Remember that place??? I had never see so many ALBUMS in my life. Yeah, thats right... I said ALBUMS. I still call them that. My kids are like: "Mommmmmm....." complete with the eye roll.

We still have an Arthur Treachers here south of me in Mansfield.

Fotomat? HA HA! Times they are a changin'.

So I take it Crystal Beach is no more? Oh man, when we were young and partying and wild that was the place. Along with Sherkston. Pile in the car and hope to make it across...smuggling all kinds of stuff. How very stupid we were.

HA HA!

Star Market!

I think an outfit called Apples bought out Star...at least where ever there was a Star, an Apples took its place.

The thing I remember about Apples is that they took every type of bottle and gave you a nickel back. When I went to Brockport, we use to take our Canadian bottles there and Apples would reimburse us the $.05 (I think we paid a dime/bottle in Canada, but it was worth getting the instant deposit! )
