spndnchz Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 WTF Danny? Where are you? Something has got to be on his mind. After a great year (for him), he does nothing. Now Lindy is sitting him for the past two games. My Pie-YAY has turned into 'no pie for you'. Here's hoping he turns it around, but I think he getting packaged up.
Two or less Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 He has struggled for most of this season and who knows why... although i do think he has played better as of late. I don't think he was benched though the last two games. Friday night, Paille sat so Paetsch could play forward and be an insurance in case Jaroslav Spacek got re-injured. And in that game, Paetsch's line, with Mair and Ellis, was one of the best lines in the game, if not the best. Paetsch got rewarded for his good play and it forced Lindy to keep Paille on the bench. As i've said few times this season, Sabres have a few players down the road who could fill his role.... Tim Kennedy, Luke Adam... and our current team is filled with defensively gifted forwards. I think Regier will try to package Paille with a draft pick or prospect and i think the demand will be high. Paille played PK as a 22 and 23 year old in the NHL. He scored 19 goals last season. Has speed and when he does throw his body, he can hit. Danny Paille is a disappointing player with much value.... kinda like Steve Bernier, who was disappointing in San Jose, and that landed them Brian Campbell. I think Paille could get us a good return. Paille, despite his struggled, still has a boat load of potential.
spndnchz Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 FWIW, "Sabres TV" had an interview with Paille after the Toronto game, he seems to have a better outlook on his game in speaking with him. He said things like"I know I have a different role this year", "I need to not be frustrated I'm not playing" "Just go out there and do what I do, and the guys will respect me" Maybe Lindy knows benching works eh?

That's what he says after a Sabres W in which he scored 2 points. I'd be interested to see a quote from Paille after one of his usual 8 minutes, 0 goals, 0 assists. Just sayin...

Thank God for Paille, eh? I saw too much I liked in this kid last year to give up on him and attribute it to growing pains--physically and mentally. It has been frustrating to watch though.

Danny really needs the right line mates to be effective. Hes not like Roy for example, who plays well with everyone. I really think if he can keep up some consistency,he can become an effective 2 way forward.
Wraith Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I've been saying for a couple of years now that Paille just doesn't have the hands nor the shot to be a natural offensive player but when he hustles he finds himself in great scoring position. He just can't finish. Last night showed ways in which he can contribute offensively. He hustled into position and let one of our skill positions bank it off of him for a goal. That's something that should be a big part of his game. Frankly, that's how he's scored most of his goals this season (Three examples spring immediately to mind, the awesome feeds from Connolly last night, from Roy two weeks ago, and from MacArthur to begin the season against the Islanders). Of course, this is why the guy is so frustrating. He doesn't hustle nearly as much as you would expect given his entire game is based on hustling. Oh well. We'll see.

apuszczalowski Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 The Welland Boys did good last night. Now lets bring in Horton!
Lethbridge Broncos Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 i gotta tell ya, paille played his best game of the season last night. he was very active and seemed very focused. he was passionate, aggressive and skated with his chest out with some bravado. good for danny. if he plays like that -- he is affective. this young man jsut might have seen the light -- we will find out tomorrow when he has to say hello to scott hartnell's cheap slewfooting ways...

He was passionate except on that icing where he slowed down and let Kubina reach around him to touch the puck first. I was thinking, WTF are you doing Paille? Come on! He just stopped skating....
