carpandean Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Didn't notice a thread about his mug getting rung... Is he okay? What is the prog? Feel free to delete this thread if is listed somewhere else.Update. ?? According to Lindy last night, Thomas has a deep laceration, which wouldn't hold him out, but they don't know if he fractured anything, which would hold him out. He will have X-rays taken today. He did say that the teeth on his lower jaw were pushed up.

I guess somebody (hockey players) has to keep dentists and oral surgeons supplied with steady business. Not saying he would have faired better than Roy in the SO... Me thinks he would have been in his slot...??
carpandean Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Not saying he would have faired better than Roy in the SO... Me thinks he would have been in his slot...?? Maybe, but last I checked, Roy has significantly better SO numbers than Vanek. So does Pominville, by the way.
All Along The Watchtower Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Grapes was saying on Coaches Corner last night that Vanek and Lindy got what they deserved with the injury since Vanek was still out there looking for a fourth goal in Wed's blowout of the Leafs. Grapes was saying something like, you "don't mess with the hockey gods or they'll come back to haunt you." Something like that... As much as I love Don Cherry, I thought the comment was a little off...but that's to be expected.

Now we have to contend with "The God's" cherry picking what the Sabres do in other games. Ya, I am a little OCD and superstitious... ;) ;) But, WTF... Why not send a hoard of locus on our ! <_< <_< Oh... BTW... Forgive me HG's... Can I schedule a confession (skip the confessional and we can go face to face) for Tuesday, 2-10-9 @ 8:30PM?
carpandean Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Small addition of info on the injury: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/2009/0...e-on-vanek.html Ruff said Vanek told him the puck struck him flat on the face, rather than on edge. That's a good thing because a flat puck will usually do less damage. That's good. It also looked to me like it hit his arm (bicep) first.

Which would have lessened the blow (blue). This post is for Don (Cherry): Gee... Small consolation from the God's Don! Don't you think? Nice to know there is a silver-lining when 6oz. of frozen vulcanized rubber comes flying at your face about 80 mph. Gotta love TV for being upbeat!

That's ok I guess, cause suddenly I'd be laughing my ass off if Don himself took a slapper in the teeth. Plain stupid remark all the way. Waste it on a moron like Neil, Avery, Tucker, Simon whoever, but that's not a remark you make about one the leagues top scorers, even if you don't like the guy. That's like me wishing Kovalev would take a puck in the face, just cause he usually kills us? I have a strong dislike for Kovalev, but celebrating him taking a puck in the face is a pretty far cry from where I stand. I wonder what the hockey gods have to say about moronic announcers, applauding injuries to players?
deluca67 Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 If injuries are a result of angry hockey gods who in the hell did Tim Connolly kill? :death:

jwcolour Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Ick.... well if anything atleast there's a decently long break before the next game if he needs some dental surgery... hope no bones are broken... guess we'll have to wait to find out more hopefully today.
TMSIX Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I am new here but felt obligated to sign up given the topic. Unfortunately it is not good news. Supposedly TV suffered a broken jaw and there is no time table yet for a return. Take it for what it is worth. I really hope my source is wrong
Two or less Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Vanek out 3-4 weeks with fractured jaw. Per Sabres text.
sabresnutinphoenix Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Vanek out 3-4 weeks with fractured jaw. Per Sabres text. that hurts
thesportsbuff Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Vanek out 3-4 weeks with fractured jaw. Per Sabres text. not cool man.
awill29 Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Vanek out 3-4 weeks with fractured jaw. Per Sabres text. Pretty much solidifies Timmy's spot in the line up for the rest of the year. We'd be thin in terms of offense if Darcy were to trade him. I'd like to see Gerbe or possibly Mancari up instead of having The General promoted to line 2, but with Paille already out, Kotalik-Roy-MacArthur is likely to be our second line til the deadline.

Honestly, I don't think it was ever a question (Vanek or no Vanek) that Connolly is here to stay. Anyway, it's hard to say what happens now. We don't have anyone else that I would consider a first line player. Chances are Paetsch stays in the lineup, Peters and Paille rotate the last roster spot, and maybe Hecht (wow) or Roy (eliminates our 2nd line) move up to play with Timmy and Drew.
jwcolour Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Well Drew, Tim and Miller have to keep up the good business. I think we should start a petition for the NHL banning hard vulcanized rubber pucks in favor of NERF balls. NERF OR NUTHIN'
