It was an interesting game to watch... My son and I went to Buffalo Bros., the Buffalo-themed bar here in Fort Worth. There was some guy there getting a Buffalo food fix, oblivious that a Sabres game was about to start. When he found out the Sabres were on he decided to stay for the game. He turned out to be Gary McNamara, one of the on-air hosts of Midnight Trucking Radio Network (which originates from local station WBAP) and native of Tonawanda.

Stafford's goal was awesome, Miller's late save was awesome, and considering the Sabres didn't put forth their best effort, I'll take a point.

What in the heck is the Midnight Trucking Radio Network?

I've heard it, but usually it's on the way to a hotel in Dallas after a late flight in.

Miller is soft tonight.

I don't know if I can take anything you say serious again. Did you watch the first 65 minutes before the shootout???? Miller is the only reason we got a HUGE point.

I'm thinking he had to be sarcastic right? I mean, he stopped 40 of 42 shots.

What in the heck is the Midnight Trucking Radio Network?

MTRN is a night owl radio show that is primarily on XM 171. It's for all the truckers who drive at night and who tune in to listen to issues that relate to the trucking industry.

BTW, I called into that show last winter and got to speak to Mr. McNamara himself personally. When I told him that I grew up in Arcade, he said, "Beautiful countryside, terrible economy."

Outplayed for quite a bit in the middle half part of the game, rallied from a two-goal deficit, third game in four nights, outshot 42-30....yeah, I'm happy with a point. Miller's been pretty sharp this year in SO's so he was probably due for a clunker, and it's no surprise it was the Sens who had his number.

How did he get that by Miller? Damn, Alfie's good.

Did anyone really think there was any way that Alfie wasn't going to score? He's been one of the biggest Sabre killers since the lockout.

I think Hamilton put it best: "if you were to tell me (on the plane home from the road trip) the Sabres would get 5 out of 6 points in the three games following the road-trip I'd sign up for that."

The SO aside, Miller gave them a chance to win. I would say that HE'S the one who got the point from Ottawa. Were you watching Lydman? Damn, that boy needed a nappy in between periods. And when is "JJ" Pominville going to step up? Hello JJ, we need you to do more than sign a bloated contract.

I also saw what some of you have been saying about The General. He was really flat-to-no-good tonight.

I suppose a few nights rest in their own fluffy blankies fresh back from the cleaning service are what they need. And their bunny slippies - I'm sure some have not had enough time in their bunny slippies.

Eh, Miller was not very good in the shootout tonight. He's been much better this year. But, I'll take the point. It gives us some separation from Florida who lost tonight and gives us a 4 point lead on 8th and 5 point lead on 9th/10th and moves us 2 points behind Montreal with their loss tonight and one point back of the Rangers and Flyers. Good effort by the Sabres in the third to tie the game up. Connolly with another big assist to give him 19 in 19. Not bad.

My big concern is Vanek. If he's out for any length of time, this is a very bad situation for Buffalo. Without Gaustad and Vanek, there is no one to set up shop in front of the net on the PP or in general. Of course, he is our leading goal scorer as well. I hope he's okay.

What I find humorous is that the only player who has ever neutralized Neil from Buffalo's end in this long running feud apparently is Teppo as he gives him what looks to be a deep gash with his skate. I tend to hate those types of injuries regardless of who they happen to considering the Buffalo history with Malarchuk and Zednik, but I hate Neil and I'll say this is karma. Besides, murderer almost ended Gaustad's career with a skate blade incident that sliced his tendon in his ankle. And, I thoroughly enjoyed the huge hit Mair put on Jerko and then the nice punch in the face, unfortunately it resulted in a PP goal the other way. Oh well, I'll take the point and expect a win at home against these guys on Wednesday night. Hopefully we'll get Vanek back by then.

Ummm.....actually, Gaustad cut himself with his own skate after contacting Heatley. I remember it well, and it was definitely a freaky thing.

Oh, and I'm glad that Neil got hurt. F Neil, that rat bastard!

Yeah, I think you're right. I really just wanted to make a murderer reference. Although, I remember the hit and I feel like murderer kind of kicked Gaustad's leg causing Gaustad to slice himself. I don't think murderer did the slicing, but was definitely the cause for Gaustad slicing himself. Either way, Neil getting sliced just seems like karma and that too from someone like Teppo who has no sense of hatred or anything towards Neil.

Why, oh why, did Ruutu have to score in the shootout?! I am a little disappointed that we didn't win -- though, it was a good comeback -- but I hate the he had anything to do with it. He is one of the dirtiest players that I have ever seen in the NHL. He's already been suspended for elbows, but he continues to throw them. Mair shouldn't have retaliated, because they will get you every time for that type of penalty, but Jarko certainly deserved the pop in the mouth after another blatant elbow. I loved watching him get laid out by Mair earlier in the period.

OK, we got a point in their building; now come back here and get two in our house. We gained a little on Montreal and Florida, but lost ground against the Flyers (thanks for blowing the lead, Bruins) and Hurricanes (yeah, they are still there, having gained 3 points on us in the last 8 games after losing 6 in the 3 games before that.)

They looked like they need a rest after a grueling schedule for the past few weeks, so it's good that they are off until Wednesday.

Why are you mixed? I don't understand everyone wanting Lalime to play. Miller has not been overworked, does not look tired and is playing great. What if Lalime played tonight and gave up 5 goals? Miller needs to play as often as possible to give this team a chance everynight.

I guess this really IS the explain your posts GDT.....

First of all, I'm Miller's biggest fan. Both my daughters sport his jersey, and it's only because I allow it. Second, I didn't mean Miller should get a rest, I meant Lalime NEEDS to play. Going into the playoffs with a rusty back up is not good. If Lalime can't be relied upon to play games, then the team needs to do something about it. Realizing this in the playoffs could be costly.

Miller looked really good tonight, as I expected he would. But burning him out before playoff time is just stupid.

I'm mixed because I want to see Miller every night, but I also know that the responsible thing to do is put Lalime in on back to back nights after the stretch of games they just had. There's a reason Miller didn't have it during the shootout, and I know the argument can be made that without Miller, o/t wouldn't have even been an option for the team, but to me that's not a good enough reason to burn him out in order to make the playoffs, then crap the bed 4 straight games because he's spent. Again, mixed because I'm not even sure if any of this makes sense. It's a "what if" game, I know, and I'm just hoping Lindy handles it the right way, that's all.

I agree with what your saying and will add Miller faced 75 shots over the last 2 games.

Don't have the energy to look it up farther back but allot of the games on the road trip were also high shot counts surrenderred. This team regularly gets outshoot and surrenders high shot counts. If thats the plan/style and there's no reason to not think that watching the way we allow the point shots then nobody can take that much rubber being thrown at them game in and game out. Brodeur in his hey day never faced that much rubber game in and game out, and add in the SO's and it's just too much to expect him Not to burn out...... Nuff said

Nice comeback from 2-0. Miller just didn't have it when it came to the shootout last night. Ottawa was giving the Sabres fits in their own zone all night. 5 points in 6 games coming off the roadie...no complaints here.

A little confusing how you worded that.

I think you mean 5 points in 3 games coming off the 6 game roadie... Or is that 5 points out of 6 points coming off the roadie?

??

Anway you slice it... I will take it... Just win 2 out of every 3 games. I apply that same formula during the long baseball season to try and predict who will rise to the top. There (baseball) they usually play teams in 3 game series or blocks.

 I meant to say 5 out of 6 points.

I hate that mentality. 5 out of 6 points is nice unless you already had 4 points going into a game against one of the worst teams in the league. You can't leave points on the ice against the NHL bottom feeders. They need a better effort on Wednesday. They can not afford to come away with only 1-2 points in a home and home against the Sens. The Sharks are looming and then a game against the Canes which is as big a must win game as the Sabres have played this season.

Of course... I agree... I am just looking with regards to 3 game sets. If they come away with zero on Wednesday, it makes it tougher to come away with 4 out of 4 the next two... BUT, they have to do it.

Cut corners know to make it "easier" and you will have to pay later and if the screw the pooch against the Sens on Wednesday AT HOME it will only make their job harder.

The good thing is IMO, Lindy gets this and can usually turn the bad around.

As sad as this may sound, I think we stand a better chance at beating the Sharks than the Sens.

I can't explain it, but we always seem to end up playing the Sens game, whereas when we play the better teams, we usually fare much better in terms of the gameplan laid out beforehand. I know we beat them last time we met, I'm just speaking generally.

Not saying we'll beat the Sharks, just saying I wouldn't be surprised if we play them a lot better than we've done the Sens these past years.

Not much to say I guess, except some teams have our number, just like we have some other teams number.

How fun is it if EVERYTHING has to be explained?

Yep my fault...should have looked at your avatar first. You tricked me sizzle. Kill the Sens Wednesday!

I agree. We may match up better with the Sharks. And they haven't been too hot late. Chicago beat them and look what the 'Nucks laid on Chicago last night. The Sens are desparate because their coach was fired and their is a huge sucking sound coming from the swamps of the Ottawa and Rideau.

Hey Billsrcursed. I love how you allow your daughters to wear Miller's jersey. Why don't you let them sport a Kaleta. That would be the shiznit.

saving that one for me!

If you click my link it goes to it. It's basically an all-night show of talk radio and country music aimed at long-distance truckers. They are on several stations, some of which are the mega-wattage stations you can pick up for 1000 miles. (I actually listened to the No Goal call on Dallas's WBAP from all the way up in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, just about a thousand miles away.)

If you've ever driven cross country in the middle of the night and were stuck with AM radio, you've probably heard them. Otherwise... not so much.

I completely agree. Lalime should've played. All we did was put extra mileage on Miller vs. the Sens. Playing him 3 games in 4 nights is going to come back to bite us.
