BamBam Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Eck Says: Just a quick FYI... So apparently half the NHL thought it would be a fun night out in balmy Buffalo... Scouts from Philly, Tampa (2 scouts), Boston, NY Islanders, Carolina, Florida, Boston, Dallas, Chicago, Colorado, St. Louis, Edmonton, NY Rangers, Pittsburgh and Washington are all currently watching Montreal and Buffalo play as we speak. Story Link ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interesting teams... Alot of scouts in one place at the same time..... Maybe there was a special at the SunDowner tonight or something.
billsrcursed Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 pics or GTFO! (Eck, of course) Sundowner, now there's a classy place..... and yes...... I know because I've been..........
nucci Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I imagine there are plenty of scouts at each game this time of year.

Buffalo is not going to make a significant splash. They are looking for the next Bernier. Now the Habs have got to be shopping Kovalev..
apuszczalowski Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Yeah, I would agree, they are probably there to watch the Habs since they have a bigger chance of making a move at the deadline. (Plus 2 from TB there? Vinny move in the works? E100 billion. Look, I can be Eck Too!!)

He knows that there are *two* scouts from Tampa there, so clearly he's on the inside. Anyone that knows specifics and details like that has got to have insider information! :wallbash:

BamBam Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 Bullsh--...as if I needed to say it. I'm kind-of like Fox News.... Eck Reports.... You Decide!
Screamin'Weasel Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I am convinced he made this up...er...reported this so he can say, "See, I told you a move was in the works!" if either team were to make any move at all with any of the mentioned teams. Why didn't he just say there were scouts from every team? By claiming all teams' scout were there he could cover any trade by saying something along the lines of, "Tampa and Chicago made a trade based on the meeting the scouts had in Buffalo (that I made up...er...reported)." He still may do that if a trade happens between any of the teams mentioned anyway.
Two or less Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Yesterday he said his sources said Sabres were close to dealing Tim Connolly to the Coyotes for a d-men..... can we all quit reading his web site?
R_Dudley Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I imagine there are plenty of scouts at each game this time of year. One of the things I was thinking and the other is do these scouts also do double duty and pre-scout teams for future games. Then most of those listed in playoff contention and/or with games coming up are just doing a normal thing.
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Clearly they're scouting Montreal. Buffalo is not going to make a significant splash. They are looking for the next Bernier. Now the Habs have got to be shopping Kovalev.. Sabres were able to pick up: Tyler Ennis Part of the Bernier-Campbell trade. Let's just see how it plays out. :nana:
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Yesterday he said his sources said Sabres were close to dealing Tim Connolly to the Coyotes for a d-men..... can we all quit reading his web site? His source revealed: I don't think that we'd get a center back. However, if we got a decent defenseman back and, in another separate trade, used Tallinder or Spacek with picks/prospects to pick up another center, I might think about it. I don't think that it would happen, but if Connolly went to Phoenix in a deal for Derek Morris (big, physical, right-handed defenseman) and then we packaged something together for Doug Weight or ... (fill in decent center on rumor block), would you at least think about it? I would.

Now the Habs have got to be shopping Kovalev.. On top of that, Robert Lang is - for all intents and purposes - done for the rest of the regular season (if not including the playoffs). Sliced Achilles tendon, which, IIRC, was the same thing that the Goose got nailed with a couple of seasons ago.

BamBam takes care of that for most of us.
