Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Hey, you leave Timmay alone! Scored the winna!
Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 9-2 hahaha...let's hope it stops there though, I don't want anybody else winning 10-2 but the Sabres. Too late. 10-2, Stars on a PP... still.
FogBat Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Just how badly do the Rangers want Sean Avery back?
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 This is just sad: Sabres fan goes 0 for 2 on Tim Connolly's name on TSN.ca.
deluca67 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Keep in mind Philadelphia is playing in Boston tomorrow. No easy test considering Boston came into Philly and beat them 3-1 in the Flyers last game. 8, 7,...I want 6th That's why it's "no easy test?" I would think it would be "no easy test" because Boston is the #1 team in the league, 6 points ahead of the Sharks.
deluca67 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Ok, this is just too funny: Oh, careful, I bruise easily. He looks like the one brother from Two and a Half Men. He is yelling "Jazz Hands?"
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 This is just sad: Sabres fan goes 0 for 2 on Tim Connolly's name on TSN.ca. Hahahaha wtf? We don't even have a player named Chris, who is this guy confusing TC with?
deluca67 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Hahahaha wtf? We don't even have a player named Chris, who is this guy confusing TC with? He has another post saying the Sabres should re-sign Larry Afinogenov.
nfreeman Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Excellent win. Here's my 2 cents: 1. Kaleta had 3 huge hits in the 1st period. His hit on Boullion was borderline but still, I think, within the rules. The other 2 hits (on Komisarek O'Byrne) were perfect. I'll take a 3rd line of Gaustad, Kaleta and Hecht every night. 2. Speaking of Hecht, I thought he played his usual solid game and I was glad to have him back. Same with the Pigeon. 3. Interesting that Paille got scratched and Paetsch played. I think Lindy must have been pretty pleased with how Paetsch played the last few games on D. 4. Speaking of Paetsch, that 4th line of Paetsch, Mair and Ellis played a very nice, high-energy game. I'll take 8 minutes or so from our 4th line anytime. 5. Miller wasn't quite in the zone, but he played very, very well. 6. Weber played much better tonight. 7. We are much tougher as a team than we were last year or for that matter earlier this year. We clear out the front of the crease and are generally more physical. The combination of Rivet and Kaleta returning from injury and Weber in the lineup instead of Tallinder makes a big difference. 8. When I watch Connolly now, I think of the movie "The Natural". He could go out anytime, but I'm just going to try to enjoy it while it lasts. 9. Only 15 minutes for Vanek. He's probably not all the way in Lindy's doghouse, but he can see it from where he is. 10. I give the Habs credit for coming out, playing hard, and outplaying the Sabres in the 1st period. They absorbed a big punch in the stomach with their injuries over the past week and they didn't look deflated. They competed hard and could've won this game if Price had outplayed Miller (instead of the other way around). 11. My 3 stars: 1-Miller 2-Kaleta 3-Spacek 12. I want Lalime tomorrow night. He can deliver a win and we can tie the Rangers in the standings. Go Sabres.
... Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 4. Speaking of Paetsch, that 4th line of Paetsch, Mair and Ellis played a very nice, high-energy game. I'll take 8 minutes or so from our 4th line anytime. Looks like Paetsch is taking his cue from Ellis. He's been pretty solid since being called back up. I was happy he got another goal, not that he's a favorite of mine or anything, but's it'nice to see a person claim some personal victories. 6. Weber played much better tonight. 7. The combination of Rivet and Kaleta returning from injury and Weber in the lineup instead of Tallinder makes a big difference. Agreed on Weber looking good. Some nice, gritty D in front of and around the net from him. This is a pretty good lineup we have going. Even Butler doesn't take any crap. I would prefer to see Lydman and Tallinder going away and keeping Spacho (than seeing Spacho walk).

I'll take 8 minutes or so from our 4th line anytime. I agree completely on the third and fourth lines of: Hecht-Gaustad-Kaleta Mair-Ellis-Paetsch Those two lines bring a good mix of grit, energy, defensive responsibility and touch of offense. It's too bad Goose is out, because I'd really like to see if Lindy would go with these. Paetsch got the call because Lindy wanted a seventh defenseman in case Spacek took a hard hit and got knocked out early. That's the nice thing about Paetsch; he gives you flexibility.
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I would prefer to see Lydman and Tallinder going away and keeping Spacho (than seeing Spacho walk). Tallinder? Yes, go away. Lydman? Not sure if I'd take Spacek over him. Last year, I would have. This year, he's been much better. He hits, he blocks shots, plays well on the PP and, when not paired with Tallinder, is defensively responsible.

He hits, he blocks shots, plays well on the PP and, when not paired with Tallinder, is defensively responsible. He's making too many bone-headed mistakes. Like being asleep at the blue line tonight, trying some passes up the middle in the past few games. Lately if there's been a stand-out D man making mistakes, it's been Lydman. Plus, I like Spacho's interviews.
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Plus, I like Spacho's interviews. You got me there. They are so much fun.
Foligno's Nose Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Nope they usually have most if not all the games... just go to http://atdhe.net for the list can't tell you how much money it saved me from going to the bar all the time Yeah, you only pissed-off this guy:
Foligno's Nose Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 All right Rivet you get a mulligan for some real good play lately but he should never have been allowed to skate out front of the net like that with you standing there... <_< Don't let it happen again That is the second time this aeason that Koivu has won a batte on the boards with Rivet to set-up an eventual goal. Interesting.
Foligno's Nose Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Bull sh!t you call that on Rivet but let Kotalik get crushed and now you let them fall all over our goalie.. Where's the quick whistle when we have the puck in the crease you over officious jerk Is that youu Marv?
Foligno's Nose Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I am definitely up too late... Sounds, and by the looks of the highlights (thank you 'NHLonthefly'), like I missed a good game. Montreal games are always entertaining. It was ironical that Kovalev won the the OT game for Montreal against us the last time and tonight his play was a primary reason for our win. Hamilton was right about his up and down play. It is historic. Kovalev should have way better career numbers than he does save for his lazy play. What a talent though, and a looonnnggg career now. Sheesh. Lalime tomorrow. We will need a stronger game from the forwards (especially the top two lines). Roll the four lines and increase our SOG. A PP goal or more would help. The D is doing fine. They have to maintain the steady play and stay out of the box. Listened to the whole game while on the clock. Paul Hamilton on the intermissions and post-game call-in show. He was excellent. Knowledgeable. Didn't think Neale's outhouse comment was that funny. I enjoy RJ and respect Neale but...I just cannot get into his commentary at all. Playfair, Gare and even Robitaille were great compliments to RJ. Lorentz was the master. I would not rule out any of them returning as color guys when the inevitable happens. Hamilton's involvement, in any role, is mandatory. Rob Ray has made tremendoous strides and is a great in-between-benches guy. Great comments/ humor during the game. Slyvester's limited role is warranted and I am not a great fan.

Did you notice that he was out there at the end of the game as well(Ithink it was our second to last shift) Makes me wonder if we are showcasing him for a trade.
Buffalo Wings Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Yep, I'm watching it. By the way... if the Sabres ever get a chance to steal Daryl Reaugh away from the Stars to replace Harry Neale, that would be awesome. Knowledgeable, yet goofie, he brings a great well-informed, light-hearted spin to the game. Maybe when RJ retires- the Sabres could get Rob Ray doing play-by-play and the Sabres would have two Rayzors in the booth! :P I'd be on the bandwagon...Daryl Reaugh is easily one of the better analysts I've heard. He used to work for the Whalers, then Hurricanes and wondered what happened to him until he showed up on VS a few years ago. I'll take this guy over any of the VS analysts 7 days a week & twice on Sunday.

Stoner Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 12. I want Lalime tomorrow night. He can deliver a win and we can tie the Rangers in the standings. Since when?
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 He has another post saying the Sabres should re-sign Larry Afinogenov.    Maxim, that is "Larry" in Russian and among other languages... ;) ;) ;) So: Maximilian I, Emperor of Mexico was really: Larry I, The Mexican Emperor Guy I vill be hear all veek. Try the veal! <_<
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Also keep in mind that Philly has 3 games in hand. I'm keeping an eye on the Rangers right now, since we're even with them in games. How many times has BFLO played Philly this year? I am not sure? But, those three games may even out if the Sabres just beat Philly.
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Also keep in mind that Philly has 3 games in hand. I'm keeping an eye on the Rangers right now, since we're even with them in games. I'm watching them, too. The Rangers haven't been looking good and are our best opportunity to move up against.
