NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Wow, quality win against a division opponent that we're trailing in the standings. The boys in blue move into a tie for 6th place in the east with philly, though the flyers now have 3 games in hand. Unfortunately, Columbus decides to rest Steve Mason and essentially surrenders two points to the Penguins by putting Dubielewicz in net. Rangers are down 3-2 to the Stars.
FogBat Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Not funny but kinda reminds me of Kappy <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO73oI-bjOk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO73oI-bjOk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Campbell-Umberger redux?
Spudz Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I'm very impressed with the last couple games. I see lots of effort back checking, good decisions on dump ins, and best yet no no-look leave the puck for the guy behind you passes(turnovers). I especially liked Connolly's effort with a solid backcheck, and his usual skillz. I was even happy with Hecht bringing the puck forward into the zone. He forced it forward and his lines mates could at least make a play. Have they turned a corner?
SwampD Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Quite true, but even the mere mention of His name offends many people (even though it does them no harm). Back to the topic at hand, I think it was a good thing I took some time off from here. I said I wouldn't be back (goodbye, credibility), but I just couldn't completely get away from this place. I just know better than to ever trust that the Sabres will ever win the Cup. I sure do hope that they prove me wrong one of these days before I go home to be with the Lord. I was away Weds. As far as us winning the cup, I think it would take the second coming, and him then playing center for us for that to happen.

wjag Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Rangers lost in Big D... Nice... NJ is on a roll these days..

... Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I think they're for real. And I think they may surprise us in the playoffs if their game keeps heading in the same direction. This is Buffalo, of course, so the usual caveats apply.

After all, we did get outshot 37-22 today and Montreal absolutely owned the first period. However, I will say that Ryan Miller has made me confident that he is capable of singlehandedly winning a playoff series for us. Over the past month and a half, he has been nothing short of the best goalie in the NHL.
FogBat Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Rangers lost in Big D... Nice... NJ is on a roll these days.. On top of that, there are non-Eck rumors floating around on NHL Home Ice that Avery may return to the Rangers.
Spudz Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 We can only hope B-) I know one thing, they are fun to watch again and not just when they win (ducks game). There was some seriously boring team hockey played in some early games this year.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Rangers lost in Big D... Nice... NJ is on a roll these days.. Rangers game still has a period left to go, but they are down by 2.
Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Rangers game still has a period left to go, but they are down by 2. Yep, I'm watching it. By the way... if the Sabres ever get a chance to steal Daryl Reaugh away from the Stars to replace Harry Neale, that would be awesome. Knowledgeable, yet goofie, he brings a great well-informed, light-hearted spin to the game. Maybe when RJ retires- the Sabres could get Rob Ray doing play-by-play and the Sabres would have two Rayzors in the booth! :P The Rangers had a 5-on-3 in the second period and the Stars actually got a pretty decent scoring opportunity during that penalty kill. They just scored again.... 5-2.... Lehtinen.
SabresFan526 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Kind of late to the party, but a good solid win for the Sabres. I was very happy with the team effort and Miller played really well tonight again. He probably could have made the saves on both of those goals, but he played very well aside from those two and made some very difficult saves. Miller has been pretty sharp as of late. I expect that he will play tomorrow night as they have about 3 days off before they play Ottawa again at home, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Lalime gets the start because of the back-to-back. If we can carry this momentum in the two games against Ottawa, the Sabres maybe looking at moving into that 4-5-6 pack in the standings instead of this 7-8 pack where they are now. I really liked the effort and hard work from the new fourth line tonight. Mair with some really hard work down low and then feeds a nice pass to Paetsch who roofs it in. Also a good play by Connolly to work hard and follow the puck on the turnover to get his unassisted, game-winning goal. Seriously, the dude is white hot right now. Connolly's on an absolute tear. It's really frustrating that he could not be healthy for the majority of this 3 year contract. He doesn't get hurt against Ottawa and who's to say the Sabres don't win the Cup even with all the defenseman going down? Either way, Connolly's on fire right now. Good game, and good win. Need to get the two points tomorrow night against Ottawa. I don't care if the team is completely falling apart and the fact that they fired Hartsburg and have a new coach. Regardless, they always play the Sabres tough, and this is a very difficult game that the Sabres have to take seriously.
Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 6-2 Dallas over the Rangers. I don't think the Rangers are winning this one. B-)
Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Make that 7-2.... two goals in about a minute.
Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 And another one! 8-2, Rangers suck. Described by Daryl Reaugh as a "Public Flogging"
Two or less Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 NYR are as good as dead. They play NJD next game. They just lack talent. Up until last week, they had 10 man-games missed all year. By far less then the next lowest. They got off to a very good start, were carried by great PK unit and defensive play and had some luck staying healthy.
tulax Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Keep in mind Philadelphia is playing in Boston tomorrow. No easy test considering Boston came into Philly and beat them 3-1 in the Flyers last game. 8, 7,...I want 6th

NY Rangers < Florida Panthers The standings are going to start changing almost daily by next week. Things could start to get real interesting come trade deadline....... should be a fun race this year.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 And another one! 8-2, Rangers suck. Described by Daryl Reaugh as a "Public Flogging" After No Goal, I just can't be overly happy about a Stars victory, but damn is it good to see one of the teams we are chasing to get flat out buried into the ground like this. Rangers are just playing embarrassing hockey lately, and they will be on the outside looking in at the playoffs if they are not careful.
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 And another one! 8-2, Rangers suck. Described by Daryl Reaugh as a "Public Flogging" Eight goals and only Ribeiro has a chance at the hatty. Talk about spreading the wealth.
Doohicksie Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Eight goals and only Ribeiro has a chance at the hatty. Talk about spreading the wealth. 9-2. And the Rangers are ugly, running everything. They are a whooped team. 10-2... as I write this post.... "Oh my goodness" from Ralph Strangis.
carpandean Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Ok, this is just too funny: Oh, careful, I bruise easily.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 9-2 hahaha...let's hope it stops there though, I don't want anybody else winning 10-2 but the Sabres.
