Corp000085 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 8:00pm I'll admit, I did not see one second of last night's game. However, with a game as lopsided as it was, hopefully the Sabres didn't waste everything last night. Keep it rolling in calgary tonight! LETS GO BUFFALO!
inkman Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Why are they playing @ 8:00, which is 6:00pm in Calgary?
tom webster Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Why are they playing @ 8:00, which is 6:00pm in Calgary? TV rules, as ussual. In this case its the NHL Network.
Cereal Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 TV rules, as ussual. In this case its the NHL Network. Oh crap....... yeah looks like the game isn't on Center Ice then?
R_Dudley Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 8:00pm I'll admit, I did not see one second of last night's game. However, with a game as lopsided as it was, hopefully the Sabres didn't waste everything last night. Keep it rolling in calgary tonight! LETS GO BUFFALO! Thank you sir, may I have another? Just what I was thinking. I do not expect Calgary to be as easy as Edmonton was last night. Some things to consider; -We have not done so well on the second of back to backs and I'm wondering if Lindy will surprise us and play Lalime tonight ? I agree with something someone said in last nights game post that maybe Lindy should have thrown lalime in when it was 8-1 to allow him to shake some rust off. -I like how paestch and Granani played last night and think it was a good confidence builder for Paestch to get that first one. -I know someone said he had a good game last night but Kotalik is still not impressing me with his mostly soft play and Paille truly seems to be in some kind of funk. -There were some interesting line combos last night as I swore I saw Roy and Hecht on ice several times together and a Vanek, stafford and pominville combo. Is Lindy doing that old juggling thing with top 2 lines again ? It sure looked like it worked out last night. Oh well time to see if this team can reverse the earlier season trend on back to backs and win what I expect will be a 1 or two goal differential game(3-2 or 4-2). GO Sabres.
carpandean Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Calgary will be significantly more difficult than Edmonton was. They have been playing very well all year, especially at home. If you look at San Jose's home record -- 22-1-2 -- Calgary was the one regulation loss. I'd honestly be very happy with a point. They have all the excuses in the world to roll over tonight: late game, travel, back-to-back games, depleted defense, etc., etc., etc., ... If they manage a strong game tonight, it will say a lot about this team.
spndnchz Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I heard this morning that we're 4 points behind Philly for 6th place. Here's the chance to go above .500 for the road trip. I'd be okay with LaLime starting.
nfreeman Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I'd like to see Lalime. I'd also like to see us play well against a good, tough WC team that is very good at home. Since last night turned into a laugher pretty early, tonight we'll see what Paetsch and Gragnani (who played 13 minutes -- more than I was expecting -- although Lindy probably took advantage of the blowout to get Gragnani extra ice time) can do.

I'd be okay with LaLime starting. Nah, Miller just had a 6 day respite for the All Star Break. He should be conditioned well enough so that he can play two consecutive games after that.
billsrcursed Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Nah, Miller just had a 6 day respite for the All Star Break. He should be conditioned well enough so that he can play two consecutive games after that. I agree. In fact, I'd actually be shocked to see Lalime, unless the game gets out of hand. Miller played strong last night, and typically his strong play becomes streaky. I would expect another strong game from him tonight, possibly a shutout...... just sayin'.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I'm gonna say we take this one 4-2. Iginla nets a couple on us, but Miller has a solid day and we continue the great puck movement in the offensive zone. Kipper has a lot of wins this year, but otherwise he's been subpar. Roy beats him twice, and Gaustad gets one too. Stafford pours in an empty netter to finish things. I've got an intramural basketball game to play in tonight, so I'll only be able to catch the first period, but I trust the boys to win.
Guest Sloth Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I'd love it if Buffalo pulled off a win tonight, but I'd be content w/ a 1 pointer. The Sabres have been playing good hockey in 2009. Brand new year = brand new team? I want the Sabres to win comfortabley tonight. Last night was far too close! It sure was a nail biter. Hope I didn't jinx tonights game.
BeeWhy5 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 LOVE the result from last night and not for the obvious reason (the score). One of the biggest things was the defense and how it would respond to yet another injury. Gragnani didn't show up on the scoresheet but he wasn't noticeable in a bad way and Paetsch comes out of nowhere with a goal and an assist. When our D gets involved in the Offense, and is still able to hold up on the defensive end, this team is VERY dangerous. Play hard tonight boys! GO SABRES!!

Mair might be out and Peters playing.
Bmwolf21 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I'm just ecstatic that work is closing up early tonight, so I'll be able to catch the game on NHL Network. Woo-hoo!
LabattBlue Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 ...Gragnani didn't show up on the scoresheet but he wasn't noticeable in a bad way I guess you missed Edmonton's 2nd goal.
jimiVbaby Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 With MSG showing the away feed, does this mean the HD NHL Network feed is going to be blacked out?
Wraith Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I guess you missed Edmonton's 2nd goal. You've already admitted you saw almost none of the game. Maybe you should refrain from judging. MAG had an excellent game up until that point.
... Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I agree with that, just looking for LaLime to get some time while on the road. Mair might be out and Peters playing. I hope not. Despite Mair's penalties, I think he brings much more talent and grit than Peters.

ExiledInIllinois Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I guess you missed Edmonton's 2nd goal. They were cruising not to get hurt! Then of all people, "The Skill" gets a shorty a few seconds later... ;) :nana:
jwcolour Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I hope not. Despite Mair's penalties, I think he brings much more talent and grit than Peters. I was kinda half knocked out with all the nyquil I took last night... but I think Mair took a hard puck to the foot. I agree he brings a lot more talent and possibly grit, but i'd like to see over the years the win/loss record with Peters in lineup and out... I don't think he hurts us as much as is percieved..

I agree he brings a lot more talent and possibly grit, but i'd like to see over the years the win/loss record with Peters in lineup and out... I don't think he hurts us as much as is perceived.. With Peters in the lineup, they either cut the minutes of the fourth line in half or double-shift someone from another line to play in Peter's spot on that line half the time. It's not uncommon to see Peters with 4minutes and the other two fourth liners with 8-10 minutes, only some of which is special teams play. With Mair, they can play that line together more often, reducing some of the load on other players. However, I would guess that it doesn't change a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. I would guess, though, that when Mair (and/or Goose) fights, it has more of an impact on the game than when Peters fights.
